I totally agree with the notion that the extent to which children are socialized dictates the destiny of society significantly, and further I believe that only appropriate degree of children's socialization can bring about a better society, and that both over-socialization and insufficient socialization of children may render some problems for the development of our society. Accordingly, finding out that most proper degree is one of the most important tasks of us, and we have not yet approached that success. However, I cannot following the speaker deny that we humans are attempting to reach the goal and we are performing better and better.

As we would all agree, we humans are social animals relying on interdependence with each other to ensure our survival and prosperity. Children are not exempt from this inexorable living pattern. They depend on their parent to receive living materials and spiritual nutrition, on their teachers to learn basic knowledge and communicating skill, and on their peers with whom to have fun. There is no doubt that children need certain degree of socialization to lead a happier childhood and prepare for their future better. If children are insufficiently socialized, they may lack the basic communicating skill with people and therefore restrict their development during their own lifetime. Lacking enough contact with the society, children may grow up with little compassion for others, even poor ones, and with little sense of responsibility to make the society better and better. This might end up a disaster to the development of human beings. However, over-socialization would bear some trouble too. After all, children face less complicated situations and social interdependences than adults do, and they are too young to handle them if too much. Hence, the humanity of them who get over-socialized may be distorted, and even some mental disorder may occur. This is of course harmful for children's development and thus the society of human beings.

Now that we need an appropriate degree of socialization for children in an effort to bring about a better society, then what degree is it? This question is so complex that no clear answers have been offered by any group of educators and even the whole people. At this point, I agree with the speaker's assertion that we have not yet learned how to raise children who are best socialized and thus can help bring about a better society. However, the speaker tends to overlook the more and more efforts and thus progress we humans have made to find out the best degree of socialization of our children. In my country, thirty years ago the only purpose our educators care about is to make our children study as hard as they could, and no communications with others were encouraged. Now, educators have been more and more aware of the significance of socialization of our children, and allow them to have much more sufficient time and energy to get into the society. This is the progress. We need to see the progress we have made, and have the confidence to reach the most effective extent to which our children are well-socialized and to which our society would benefit from it.

In sum, I fundamentally agree with the speaker's assertion about children's socialization. As discussed above, we need to make further effort to get more profound understanding of the relation between the degree of children's socialization, and the effect of doing so on the development of children and the whole society. I view the process positively, against the speaker's negative attitude toward this issue.
