In any profession-business, politics, education, government-those in power should step down after five years. The surest path to success for any enterprise is revitalization through new leadership.

观点:平衡+反对意见。1+1型论题

提纲:
1.在政治方面,长时间的执政会导致极权主义而引起贪污腐败。
2.过长时间在某个职位上执政不利于新人的发展(指出某些领域上如此)……
3. 但是并不是所有的职位都如此,指出在某些领域,丰富的经验更为重要。
4.除了revitalization之外, 影响enterprise成功还有其他因素,主要是包含领导人的才能以及制度的完善,等等。

In talking about the revitalization of a new leadership, the speaker asserts that those who are in charge, in any profession, should step down after five years to give way to the young generation. However, it seems that the speaker goes to extremes by unnecessarily extending this to any profession, as well as his arbitrarily pointing out that revitalization is the surest way to success for any enterprise, even though revitalization is indispensable in some realms.

On one hand, people are always sharing a belief that political leaders who hold power for long are more likely to be tempted to corrupt. Since a political leader with the long time experience in one position always win high reputation among their people, meanwhile this may tend to expand his desire of power. As the British historian Load Acton once pointed out, “power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
Once his power desire is inspired gradually during the long time of leadership, the leader, who may crazy for purchasing authority, may turn out to be an autocrat who shows no beneficial to the nation at all, or even a threat to the center government. That is why in the army the crucial leaders are often altered to weaken their individual might for fear that they may threat the security of the country as a result of personal desire.


Moreover, staying too long in a position constrains the development of certain enterprise. Take AC Milan-the famous Italian football club-for example, Paolo Maldini, the former captain of the club, has almost taken his leadership in the field for nearly 20 years, which presents to be rather a long time for any football players. However, the coach's favor for Maldini, at the same time influences other young talented players' career. The club's preference of aged experienced rather than the young has aroused people's worry who should AC Milan depend on when the old forward like Inzaghi retires?

On the other hand, although recruiting the new to replace the old is very necessary for the development of some enterprises, the speaker unnecessary extends this all the other professions. For instance, suggestions related with business issues from an experienced leader are more reliable and advisable than those from a graduate. Business leaders, whose capacity is mainly improved out of the classroom, are required to maintain skills of negotiation as well as knowledge of economies, and the former seems to play a more important role in handling various of business issues. Even if more and more young CEOs from all kinds of areas have entered our vision nowadays, yet they get something almost the same- experience which does not conflict with their young age. Hence in this area, experienced leaders seem to bring more profits for the enterprise and there is no need for them to step down.

In addition, the speaker overstates the importance of revitalization, as if it is the unique aspect that determines an enterprise's success. New leadership means vitality and passion, but these in all can not guarantee the enterprise’s success at all. An effective leader is required to be one with high ethical standards as well as regulating skills, which are the fundamental of achieving success. Besides, complete rules and laws are required to be put into practice, as well as talented members need to be attracted working for them. Therefore, good leadership, complete rules and excellent members are three indispensable factors on the way to success. Innumerable failing examples which are related to those young with great new ideas and enthusiasm tell us that merely revitalization can not spawns success of any enterprise alone.

To sum up, I think the speaker should take a careful think at his assertion because it is a case by case issue. Different methods should be taken when confronted with various situations. What is more, the surest path to success for any enterprise is not merely revitalization, but effective leaders, complete rules and excellent members as well.
