In any profession-business, politics, education, government-those in power should step down after five years. The surest path to success for any enterprise is revitalization through new leadership.
Can revitalization through new leadership be regarded as the best way to success for any enterprise? In my view the speaker unfairly generalizes. Actually, in some areas, changing the leader can help them to be more successful. However, in different situations, the change of the leadership may have negative effect.
We need the new leadership to make the enterprise revitalize in some special profession, for example in politics. There is no flawless people individual in this world. The fame, interest and wealth can confuse a wise leader and cause him or her to do something illegal. The long term leadership make the leaders more easy to abuse their power .and the most corruption are have a close relationship with the long term leadership by one person. To be a leader is very hard and long term work will make a person lose the passions and creativities. So leaders have to face a problem that their recourse has been exhausted. At that time, we will starve for a new leader to guide us to make further progress. In America, the term of a president is 4 years, which can represent that the term for a democratic country is a must and has a great effect on the development of the country. So in some professions, they need different kinds of people to be the leader to infuse the new blood to the enterprises.
However, in some other special professions, if we take the same measure, we will fail to see the successfulness we have expected, such as education and exploration. As a president of a school, regardless of primary school, middle school and even college, the faculty needs an experienced president who knows the every details of the school .can you promise a new person will be same to the old president who has been in the position for four years? For teachers and students, they may have strong emotion to the old president who has companied them in the past four years. They are used to the leadership of the old president and the new actions of the new leadership may disturb their work and also is bad for their procedures of the teaching. In a word, fixed leadership for a school is better. It is the same to the exploration, the requirement of an exploration leader is very restrict, including good health, the abundant specialty knowledge, the ability to deal with different hazards and incidents quickly and get well along with the all group member and so on. Then a green hand that does not have the experience can not enough calm and take right actions to deal with the danger. And se he or her stay with the group just a short time, so they can not everybody well. It is hard for us to believe him or her that he or her can grantee the safety of the group member during the exploration.
To sum up, the leader stepping down after a limited time is a good way to stimulate the development of the enterprise in some degree. But it is not absolute and if we must think twice that if we need the new leadership according to the situation.
