The author asserts that the real thing makes contribution to the whole society something of lasting value is the artist. I agree with the statement basically, but if only the artists exist without any critic, that will causes many problems I think.

First and foremost, it is true that the artists are the mainstream of the people who make a significant contribution to society things of lasting value and worthy. Many marvelous works exhibiting in the art museum are created by the artists all over the world. Art work such as sculptures, paintings, buildings and so forth, are kinds of spiritual properties which are totally distinctive with those are the real substances in the reality. Humans should not only satisfy with the factual things, such as money, houses, cars etc, what’s more should be focus on is the entertainment of one mind. Arts induce us a lot of thinking about the space, time, and normal life in a different way, moreover, they can satisfy human mentality.

However, we cannot deny the pivotal role of the critics is playing in balancing the works which are created by the artists. The existing of critics is not bad, especially in judging the works which is created by artist. Obviously, the function of critics is working as supervisor who evaluates the quality of works of art. Only by evaluating the works, can our artist know where is his shortcoming, and where should be corrected, and things like that. In short, it can improve the average quality of works of art.

But, if there is no critic around us, we cannot imagine how the works will develop. Absolutely, we are not satisfied about the works which was created by artist without the evaluating by critics. Sometimes, singer often publish new special, but there is no critics around them, how do they know what the evaluation that comes from the listeners, whether he will be popular, all of these questions are doubtable. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the quality of the special. Maybe people do not enjoy them, which makes singers embarrassed.

All in all, combine what I have mentioned above, we may safely make a conclusion, when locating in the art world, artist and critics are the basic elements in the creating process. Each of them are playing different roles, so balancing them well is much important than anything else.
