How many of us can honestly proclaim loudly that we have understood our own culture deeply? How many of us would be willing to admit that the exotic cultures are better than our own? Probably, most of us would vote "no" twice. Actually, to better master our own culture, we had to appreciate others'.
现在写开头你大概要想多久?我总是喜欢纠结开头。
Culture which created by human beings distinguishes people from animals. In this sense, no culture is completely different from others. In other words, cultures in the world, to some extent, have their inner connection with each other. We have long take that the cultures of the East and the West are distinctly different. However, retrospect to history, we found that the gunpowder ruined the chivalry, that compass help the West to explore the global markets, that printing established the foundation of the spread of religion. Also, before the Renaissance, many Westerns were fascinated about the Chinese Confucius thoughts. Later, the Silk Road connected the East and West more tightly. Clearly, without either one, the remaining one is not what it is today. Simply put我现在觉得还是不要用范文里的东西,太多人用了, eastern culture and western culture should not be separated.
这个点不错,让步很自然
With regards to what was mentioned above, we should realize that it is ethnocentrism that prevents us from understanding better of our own culture. Those who reckon their own culture is superior to any others' could not grasp the essence of their own culture and even would be bogged down in the marsh created by their own. Before 1840, China has long regarded itself as the topmost nation so that it blockaded itself and refused to learn anything that was exotic and alien. Just when China was indulged in lavishing its own resources, the explosion of bombs which ironically was originated from China awaked the Chinese. Not only being defeated, but they also found that they have been lagged by the nations at which they even laughed in the past and other than preserve and carry forward the brilliant and gorgeous culture inherited from their ancestors, they have lost a sizable number of it.
其实这个例子很适合放到下一段。
Indeed, there goes an old saying:"You can hardly get the overall view of a mountains when you are in the mountain." Only by comparing with others' culture can we know our shortage and strength. (这段很囧~不知道写什么)
The Chinese saying,“ the person inside the incidence is blinded by the incidence” stands. Without a glance of other's traditions, can we hardly appreciate our own customs; without comparison with what others people belive, never can we truly understand what extent we have reached.
However, when learning another culture, we inevitably have to mention the phenomenon: Culture Invasion. Particularly, when a nation or country or society is less developed than others, one would be affected profoundly by one or more cultures from the developing ones. Now look at many east countries, their people are wearing the shirts and jeans, eating fish and chips just as their counterparts in America. Even more, Christmas is celebrated by so many people, whether they are Christians or not: it becomes a big festival for merchants. But the traditional festivals have been ignored. In China, the Spring Festival is not what it is used to be: less and less people would gather together and wish "Happy new year" to each other; instead, they choose to stay in their own apartments quietly. That is pathetic, isn't it? During the process of learning the alien culture, we should better understand our own not abandon our traditional culture.
我觉得这一段和主题关系不大啊。
Taking into account what has been discussed above any culture is connected with each other, more or less. To better grasp our own culture, we should take in the others'; however, this process is by no means to be assimilated by others.
