In this argument, the arguer claims that the decline in artic deer populations in the result of deer being unable to follow their age-old migration patterns across the frozen sea. To support the conclusion, the arguer provide the evidence that the deer population are declining from local hunters and these reports coincide with recent global warming trends. This argument might seem reasonable at first, but it suffers from several critic fallacies. The reasons are stated as follows.
First of all, the arguer fails to give enough evidence to conclude that the population of deer are decreasing. It is very likely that some of local hunters do not hunt any deer
recently because of their bad luck and then they report to the local government. There are also many other factors that make hunters think the amount of deer decreased, maybe their hunting time or hunting area are quite different from the deer habit
The second problem inherits in the relationship between the change of deer age-old migration patterns and decreased number. Although this is entirely possible, the arguer offers no evidence to substantiate this crucial assumption, There maybe other reasons that could caused the decreased number, for example, perhaps the number of plants which is the deer’s favorite food decreased sharply or perhaps excessive hunting of local hunters or environment pollution.
The last but not the least important, from the argument we find little evidence to explain if the global warming can influence local region. It is reasonable to doubt that what the arguer assumes will not happen in reality. Global warming may cause high temperature of some other places while local region remain usual, or even decrease.
In summary, the arguer’s conclusion mentioned above is invalid and misleading. In order to strengthen the point, the arguer should provide more information about the change of local temperature and if it has other factors influence the number of arctic deer. To make the argument logically acceptable, the arguer should reason more convincing to show compelling evidence and take every possible consideration into account.
