Nowadays, we human beings are faced with a myriad of global problems such as the environment pollution, the energy crisis and the overflowed population. For the purpose of sustainable development, we should try our best to solve them through all our efforts. A global university is a novel and creative idea which might have a great effect on solving the world's most social problems; however, I am not quite in favor of it as this seemed fantastic plan is indeed unrealistic.


There is no denying that modernization and internationalization have made the world a huge family. Butterfly effect always happens as all nations are tied together in the ream of politics, economics etc... A case in point is the financial crisis; almost all countries have been influenced although it is a crisis happened in America. The side effect of it was numerous: the collapse of the stock market, the unsteady price of houses and the bankrupt of companies... Hence, it is essential and necessary to take actions to solve the global problems like this.


Building a global university sounds fantastic. The most brilliant students are chosen to learn global lessons and using their intelligence to give best solutions. There are indeed some advantages in building such a university. Diverse people hold different opinions which may be beneficial to the solving of problems. The mixture of all kinds of ideas will make problems clear and easier. Furthermore, this school might offer a chance for people from different countries and regions to develop their friendship which do much good to the development and cooperation in the future. Some misunderstanding will eliminate and they will find the valuable qualities in each other.


But everything serves as a two-sided sword. The university is also facing several severe challenges never happened before. People from different places inevitably hold different even opposite religious beliefs. If they are not tolerant enough to others' belief, conflicts will happen easily and frequently. Besides, common sense tells us that everybody will consider his or her own profit first rather than other's. If there is a debate about sacrificing one country's benefit for a time for the long-term development or the like, students from that country might strongly disagree with this idea. Situations like this are difficult to handle if it really happens.


What's more, the plan of construction a global university is unrealistic. As we all know, the imagined university should be equipped with the highest-tech facilities. But quite a lot countries cannot afford it for their low gross national income like some African Countries. This problem directly cause the phenomenon that students in some countries cannot be admitted in the university which means some plans will be drawn up regardless of their benefits. This of course will induce discontentment in these poor countries which means building such a university is facing great challenge.


To put it in a nutshell, despite the fantastic idea, the building of a global university is not realistic faced with a myriad of challenges, but the search for solutions to global problems is of significant urgency. Consequently, People should try another ways like holding summit between different countries every year or even every month, educating our children with more global issues and the like.
