"Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."
我的思路:基本同意作者观点,但不是全部同意
1.满足大多数学生的需求和兴趣是必要的,无论对个人还是社会
2.满足大多数学生的需求和兴趣是必须的,原因是当今的信息技术和国际化趋势
3.因为有限的资源和复杂的环境,不可能做到满足每个人。 并且对小学生必须有限制和榜样,因为他们的需要和兴趣有时是不合理的

With the increasingly rapid development of globalization and urbanization of the world in the new century, many problems are brought about, one of them is that how to make education truly effective. I broadly agree with the speaker's view that education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests, nevertheless, it's a hard task for us to satisfy the interests and needs of each student. Several explanations account for my point.

  First of all, in order to make education effective and thereby promote social progress and publish benefits, we should design various subjects to meet most students' needs and interests. If our designed curriculum met their interests, they would be encouraged to do research or studying with high spirits. From their own perceptive, it helps to improve their skills and characters through these activities, they thus become confident and outgoing both in making friends and applying for jobs. Furthermore, because they dedicate doing experiment or research, their deeds would undoubtedly make contribution to and benefit their colleges and society a lot. Therefore, only by this way can education be truly effective and thus benefit individuals and society.

  Secondly, after examining the situation which featured by the development of information technologies and internalization, we must look for ways to meet individual needs and interests to ensure education effective and adapt the constantly changeable social environment. For example, from nineties of last century, education field changed a lot in discipline classification. More and more inter-disciplines,such as computing finance, interactive human-computer and so forth, were brought forth in order to suit for the development of society。This occurrence of multi-discipline embodies that society or education must put more and more emphasis on individual needs and interests. This phenomenon took place not randomly but inevitably which is determined by the objective atmosphere of globalization. Otherwise, the development of society would have been impeded seriously. Hence, the prerequisite of which we want to make our society forward smoothly and quickly would have to be that education must meet individual needs and interests to make it effective.

  However, after all, facing so limited resources and increasing number of students day by day, to make education satisfy each student's requirement would be an ideal goal in the long run rather than a feasible solution in the present. Moreover, for pupils, we should instruct or direct them more than always meet their irrational needs and interests unlimitedly. For instance, starting in early seventies, “values clarification” programs started turning up in schools all over of America. According to this philosophy, children were allowed to clarify their own values, which adults including parents have no rights to criticize. Yet, the “values clarification” movement indeed did not clarify values, or interests, but clarified unreasoned wants and desires which ultimately would result in confusion of values and moral among people’s minds. In other words, there is no escaping the fact that young people they need as example principals and teachers who know difference between right and wrong, good and bad, and who themselves exemplify high moral purpose. Thus, certain must be said, certain limits lay down and certain examples set. There is no other way. In this sense, we cannot always meet their undesirable or irrational needs and interests.

  To sum up, it's not only necessary but also indispensable to design education to meet the individual needs and interests of most students to make it truly effective. But we would never realize the aim that satisfy the demands of all students due to limited resources and complicated conditions, meanwhile, we risk disturbing normal educational system and resulting in chaos in education to winking at students' unreasonable desires blindly.
