Along with the arising of a series of complex and persisten social problems all over the world, seting up a global university to engage students in the process of solving these issues has become a real concern in contemporary society. I fundamentally agree that a global university gathering faculty and students from distinct cultural background may accelerate the solution of the world’s most persistent social problems to a considerable extent. Nevertheless, there is still a doubt about whether the establishment of such a global university is feasible or not, taking into account the conflicts of interests and conceptions in kinds of fields among different countries.

In mordern society, as the world is becoming a global village, international cooperation and collaboration has been a generally historical tendency, which calls for a proper flatform where the very notion of distinct culture could merge and exchange together to generate a consensus and finally lead to a way current global persistent social problems can be solved approperately. As we all know, a large number of social problems with tremendous significance are always global in scope and too difficult to resolve or alleviate for only single or seldom countries. For instance, the environmental contamination and its consequential problems, including the depletion of atmospheric ozone and global warming caused by green house effect, can hardly be settled relying on a mere nation no matter how powerful it is. Likewise, most of significant academic projects, such as space exploration, also demand international collaboration due to its large scale and fund requirement. Thus, the establishment of a global university is likely to improve the process of globalization and therefore speed the development of human beings.

Although we can predict the benefit of seting up a global university clearly, the feasibility of this conceive is still open to doubt, since we could never ignore the conflicts existing almost anywhere between countries. Despite distinct notions and conceptions in art, literature and philosophy, the discrimination and discrepancy in religional belief will always bring about  non-tunable collisions. For example, when it comes to the conflic between Israel and Pakistan, which side should we consider as justicial or evil? Another instance refers to 9.11 Event, which is a typical terroristic behavior in the opinion of people in favor of peace, but we have to realize that in eyes of Arab world that disaster is part of their Saint War against non-muslim world.

In addition, not only could administrators of the global university easilly agree on which standpoint they should hold and pass on to international students, but also a tough question it is the policies and rules by which decide the location of the global university and the student number each country could send. Wherever the global university would be sited, the local government will inevitably impose some influence on it. Also, due to countries’ power difference, it is hard to achieve absolute fairness when allocating the resources of the global university and deciding how its graduates serve the whole world.

To sum up, establishing a global university is a good idea to cultivate across-culture students with all-round perspectives and thereby largely benefit the mutual cooperation and scientific collaboration between distinct nations. However, before that we should consider more about the feasibility of this conceive, due to the complicated international relationships and lots of non-tunable conflict of interests and beliefs.
