In the long history of human beings, there have been so many valuable arts which have brought significant development of the society’s spiritual level and edified the aesthetic sentiment of people. Undoubtedly, without the efforts made by the great artists, we couldn’t enjoy these treasure of arts and make progress of our own qualities. However, there are so many critics who play an important role in recognizing and judging the value of the arts created by artist. Therefore, while we value the contribution of the artists, there is no need to trivialize the significance of the critic’s work.

Admittedly, there is no reason for us to deny the contribution made by excellent artists, who turn up with their perfect works and novel designs or ideas. Most of the works promote the progression and development of the whole area. For instance, it is the famous painter Picasso, who was good at drawing in a nonfigurative way that has played an important role in enlightening people with a new way to express and bringing a novel kinds of drawing to the painting area. It is the most respectable writer Shakespeare who had created numerous of articles and scenarios that showed us the fantastic world of words and literatures along with the exactly reflection of the realities. It is the modern musicians that exploited the new area and formats of playing music that have proposed the new-born kind of music call pop which entertains our daily life and let it full of melodies and rhythms. Therefore, we can’t erase the contributions and the functions that those genius had created to fertile the spiritual and idealistic fields of people.

However, what is the invariable situation is that common people have little and insufficient ability to recognize and discover the real value of some genius and masters. It is the critics with discreet thoughts and objective criterions that recognize and justify the real value of some art works and the real talent in some artist giants who may at first didn’t receive more fames and receptions. It just like the fact that a horse with long endurance and high ability to run would not be found and play an role in some certain right aspect if there is no one specific in recognizing perfect horses to acknowledge the talent of it. Every famous and excellent artist will be valued properly when there are some sensible critics to reveal his or her wonderful art works to the society, which sometimes may be concealed behind the appearance. What’s more, not all of the artistic works and compositions are worth to be valued and bring to people who pursue real excellent things, in which case, it is the critics roles to purify the highest level of arts values and inducing people to understand the works in an appropriate direction and attitude. So that the things that can be conserved and passed down generation by generation is the real things with respectable values.

Moreover, critics’ criticism also can help the artists to improve their works and creating ideas. When the work of an artist doesn’t receive the positive criticism from critics, there must be something to be improved or changed, which helps the artists to find a better way to express their gifts in the area. If an artist’s idea or device has been recognized and acknowledged by the whole society, there will be an powerful impetus to encourage him or her to obtain a higher and better success. Thus the whole area of arts can keep progressing and developing.

However, we have to admit that sometimes the real value and recognition of a perfect artist can’t be given and acknowledged, as the idea and works of these artists are very preeminent and strange to the right period, consequently, their works and creative abilities may be restricted by the criticism from the critics.

In sum, both the talent of artists and the objective estimation from the critics that contribute the numerous treasures and possessions in the art field which have represented human’s cultural development and fortunes.
