ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."
To most people who live in the modern world, education, at most of the time, could be considered as the sunshine to flowers, without that, hardly one can stand in the competitive society. Because compared with living for the first hand experience, most believe that education is the fastest way to learn. Thus, with the development of everything, education is not what used to be when it is set up hundreds years ago, and several types of teaching lay ahead for students to choose, such as specifically designed and for general public. Opposed to the speaker, in my opinion, education will be truly effective at most time, no matter whether when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student or not.

General public education has been accepted by many governments, such as China, and The United States. In China, before students getting into colleges, they are using the same text books, no matter they live in the northeast or the southwest. Same text book means the same knowledge all students learn, only in this way it is possible that equality between students who are from different place but aiming the same university. Besides, for the University Entrance Test (UET), all the students in the same grade, they have the UET test in the same day. That is effective, even if the Chinese education before college is not the specifically designed. Nevertheless, that makes no difference with the highest number of Mathematics’ Olympic competitors. This illustrates that when proper general public education broad widely, it would also bring effective result.

With the developing of professional education, some educators asserted that if it is specifically designed for the character needs and interests of each student, it will take the most effective result. But actually, the fact is beyond of imagination. Take one famous Chinese writer—LuXun as an example, his major was iatrology when he was young, and at that time, he, exactly accepted professional education in Japan. In this way, he should be a doctor, because that education was effective enough to turn him to be a doctor and that was what he wanted at first. But latter when he came back to China, and he realized that a doctor was too wake to cure the whole country, till then, LuXun changed his mind and chose to be a writer to wake the sleeping country by literature. This case claims that specifically designed education loses its role sometimes, and it might bring a good end in some sort.

With the education developing vastly, it would be true that parents and teachers support the suitable education to every child, when he start to learning, but thus he might also lose the failure from other field, which is another harvest in another word, and meanwhile he has no chance to know whether what he is learning is what he want or not. Additionally, one could not neglect the progress in which he fails and restart.

As well experienced educators, they should support several basic classes for children to choose, thus, they would have a try at different field and experience of making decision. Education, no matter in the single field or in the general public, is always the ladder to the top of one’s life.
