185. Scandals—whether in politics, academia, or other areas—can be useful. They focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.
提纲：同意
1.很多人已经意识到丑闻的作用，开始利用丑闻做文章
  a.政治家在竞选时用丑闻
  b.流行歌手在发片时故意制造丑闻
2.正因为丑闻可以吸引人的注意，所以它可以引导人们认识错误，回扣useful
3.虽然丑闻有很大作用，但它也可以毁到社会，所以我们要有选择

The author asserts that scandals can be useful whether in any area, they focus our attention on problems in ways that no one ever could. In my opinion, I tend to agree with what the author says.

To begin with, one reason I support this point of view is that more and more people has realized that scandals have the ability to draw others’ attention, which cannot be replaced by anything else, thereby, many people utilize scandals to help themselves to achieve the goals which they want but cannot achieve merely though advocating. For example, on one hand, scandals are utilized on politics. Whenever election is holding in any country, there will be come out scandals about the campaigner, which may be false, may be true. Scandals can overshadow all excellence of people. In this case, making scandals gradually becomes a political artifice. On the other hand, scandals can also used on amusement. As for musician, especially pop star, when their new records are about to come into the market, they will make some scandals deliberately to draw people’ s attention. Scandal always have efficacy out of people’ s minds. Though that, records often have better sales amounts. So there is no doubt that scandals have functions which no other people or things can substitute.

In addition, just by reason of scandals have the ability to focus people’ s attention, so they also can wake people up from errors. So whether in any area, scandals are useful in some aspects. As the living standard and society developing quickly, some bad phenomena appear with the development. At the beginning of anything, people are not able to discern the weaken part of it. At this time, suitable public scandals can remind people avoiding walking on a wrong road. Hence, it is exactly to describe scandals as useful in some parts.

Admittedly, scandals have large influence on the whole society, they can accelerate the development, they also can help special groups to achieve what are hard to accomplish in other ways. However, just because scandals have abilities which cannot be replaced, they can destroy whole society. Because the purpose of some scandals only is to help the people to gain what they want, it is possible that the reliability of them is low. If so, we should not believe what the scandals say. In a word, as for scandals, we must have the discretion, make them useful for us in deed.

In summary, due to analysis and reasons mentioned above, we can get the conclusion that scandals are surely useful and cannot be instead of. Nonetheless, we must have a ‘degree’ about the scandals. As long as we can do this, scandals are not frightfulness, contrary can help us to do what we cannot do.

我的意见：
我觉得你对题的理解不是很到位．＂They focus our attention on problems＂指的就是指问题，其实就是你第三段说的事情，而你只是在简单讨论丑闻好还是坏．
比如Ｂ１段，政治选举和明星炒作都不是让我们focus our attention on problems，而只是像你提到的＂draw others’ attention＂．Ｂ２段说到点子上了，可是居然这么短．．应该重新写一下．结构有问题．第二段应删掉，第三段阔成两段．

另外一个问题，你的例子太不具体．只是泛泛地说政治家选举～～～，应该举具体的，比如说水门事件＼可林吨来文司机等等．你这样只是空说．
