呵呵~
I fundamentally disagree with the author's assertion that only when education is specifically designed to meet each student's needs and interests can it be truly effective, since this assertion is based on an assumption that every student know exactly what he or she needs and interests are. Moreover, specifically designed education for students is not the only way to be an effective one, because it cannot satisfy the purpose of true education.
The author may claim that because the education is designed specifically for each student, thus我只知道在英语里because 和so是不能一起用的,与thus则不确定 students would be incline to going to classes, take part in the classes actively and do well in their works. Common sense tells us "interest is the best teacher." If do so, students will learn well in this atmosphere and such education will be an effective one.
However, the author ignores that this assertion is based on an assumption that students well know what they need and interests are. In fact, few students, especially students in colleges or younger, understand themselves well, and their interests are changing as they grow. Thus it is almost impossible to determine which kind of educational way they will我觉得改成should比较好 take. In addition, some students find their interests on the way of study. In other words, someone may not know what their interests are before studying, while after taking the relative classes, they begin to like those disciplines. For example, when I was in middle school, my chemistry was poor, and I did not like it at all. After winning a chemistry competition, I began to love it and now chemistry is my major in the college. If the education were designed to my interest, I would never know that I could be a researcher in chemistry. By this means, it is hard to say that the education designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student is truly [不是truely!] effective.
Moreover, besides this kind of education, the one that includes a series of disciplines also meet the purpose of education, thus is effective. In most people's eyes, purposes of education are to replace an empty mind into an open one and to prepare students for the future social life. That is to say, by study><studying in school, students should gain the ability to learn new things and to communicate with others in order to learn from others. If education is designed only to meet students' need and interests, then what they learn is limited. For instance, if a student liked math, and he took only the relative classes at school, when he meets problems beyond math in his later jobs, the education he received could not prepare him for his job and he would deal with it with difficulty. Similarly, effective education should also prepare us the ability to communicate with others and learn from others. Yet, common sense informs us that if two have something in common, they will communicate with ease. In this case, education designed specifically to meet students’ need and interests and thus informs students with limited knowledge may no longer be suitable. To the contrast, education in various fields provides students promise to communicate with others successfully. Thus education following students’ need and interests is not the only effective one.
In sum, although students may study well at school if they accept education designed to meet their needs and interests, it has drawbacks: if students do not know their needs and interests at first, the education that the author advocates cannot be taken. To the contrast, education in broad field may suit for students’ future jobs in complex society. Meanwhile, it also prepares students to communicate with us and then learn from others, hence is effective.
