A towering philosopher ever said: Histories make men wise; poems witty; mathematics subtle; philosophy deep, logics and rhetoric able to contend. This may well illustrate the idea that: The knowledge from different disciplines not only deepens our understanding about us and the world around us, but also influences our attitudes and abilities to communicate with ourselves and the world.

First, knowledge and ideas who learn from humanities enables us to know our feelings more clearly as well as to understand our society more comprehensively. A student of history can acquire more knowledge about how the society is formed, how it evolved, how celebrities promoted the progress, and most importantly, what aroused all of this. Studying the characters of different kinds of people in the past may greatly facilitates the students to find out what is most common among human race, that is, human nature. A student with such kind of knowledge may actually start to examine his or her own feelings, and learn how to cope with them. It affords him or her more chances to eschew the danger of such harmful feelings such as jealousy, hatred and greed before such emotions seize an advantage in his or her mind. In other fields, after one has carefully studied politics, he or she may get a deeper understanding about the current political system and the nature of democracy. The sense of responsibility cultivated through one's learning about the necessity of voting can enable more people to care for who is going to be their political leaders and employ their rights to decide who will finally deserve the power. Simply put, what we have learned through the study of humanities benefits us both in our inquiry into the deepest emotions in our heart and our ability to deal with the world around us.

When it comes to the fields of science, the part they play in people's lives may be different, but never less important. Scientific research is the exploitation into the unknown territory that human beings have or have not dappled in and turn them more comprehensively and clearly to people. It may not directly contribute to people's knowledge about the feelings in their heart and their knowledge about the evolvement of society. However, it provides help in a different way. For example, the research of human brain, thought still controversial in some countries, has helped us to know better in an substantial view about what chemicals produced our emotions and how them controlled our behaviors. With such kind of knowledge, we have another means to explain some of the social problems we are facing. In addition, it may topple the foundation upon which people's attitudes about their lives and society is built. In other worlds, the research of science can actually break the solid ideas and thoughts that are wrong but persistent in people's minds whether they are willing to or not. For example, Copernicus' theory that the stars and planets revolves around the sun, even if the theory itself is not completely right, destroyed the traditional geocentric theory of Ptolemy upon which the mainstream religious belief is based. The example may well illustrate how the knowledge we gain from scientific principles influence our normal lives and how it contributes to our view about our society.

In conclusion, knowledge and ideas from humanities principle enable us to know better about ourselves and afford us a clearer view towards what has happen around us while the truth from scientific research provides concrete foundation for them.
