Syllabus:
1. the leader need to win in the competitive world.
2. the leader must have the capability of cooperation among teammates.
3. an arrogant leader who is insensitive to co-workers is sure to perish.
There is much debate over the issue of whether a well-developed sense of competition or a sense of cooperation brings the success to leaders. Many people claim that a highly competitive leader catches hold of each opportunity to win, on the contrary, other people assert that the leader commendably cooperated with teammates manage to achieve the right way opening into success. As far as I concerned, leaders of the future should have both a sense of competition and a sense of cooperation.
To begin with, the first reason why I choose this position is that the leader is one who can lead his or her team to win in the competitive world. In the modern society, comparing with global continual increasing population, resources that human could splurge in the past become rare. Therefore, it is inevitable replete with competition so that the limited resource could be properly used by the most appropriate person or group. Only the leader with well-developed sense of competition can hold of more opportunities and lead his or her team to win. In politics, business, academia, sports and other areas, we can find that the winners are always competitive to seize every chance which could lead to his or her success. On the other hand, if a leader is not highly competitive, less chances will be left and the success is far away. Understandably, a sense of competition is necessary and important to a effective leader.
Furthermore, another point worth considering is that to lead a team to win in a competition against external competitors, a leader must have the ability to enhance cooperation among the teammates. It is obviously that one can not consider and solve every aspects or problems in front of a challenging work since individual vigor or power is limited. And in teamwork, a leader can look for his or her teammate's support in that each one has a different brain. With a sense of cooperation, the leader knowing how to communicate with even inspire his teammates can get all things considered and obtain the most proper way to approach success. Let us concentration a specific model from sports realm, Michael Jordan, one of gifted NBA stars, wins six-time NBA champion not only by his talent but also by the support from his teammates such as Pippen and Rodman. Hence, a sense of cooperation is absolutely necessary for a successful leader.
Additionally, a leader who is arrogant, insensitive to co-workers and unable to control ambition is sure to perish. Here is an egregious example from ancient China. During the three Kingdoms period, general Zhang fei, who is famous for his braveness and excellent martial genius, was murdered while sleeping by his underlings merely because the general was too arrogant and insensitive to his followings and even abused them oftentimes. Accordingly, keeping a sense of cooperation could enhance one's leadership therefore could achieve success.
All in all, judging from the evidences discussed above, it might be comfortable to arrive at the claim that not only competition but also cooperation usually correlate with the successful leadership. Therefore, a society can better prepare its young people for leadership by instilling in them both a sense of competition and a sense of cooperation.
