People usually refer to a person either as a child or as an adult, since many characteristics draw an obvious distinction between children and adults, such as body maturity, independence, critical thinking ability, and so on. Undoubtedly, a plethora of events in one’s lifetime may influence his/her passage form a child to an adult, but from my perspective, there are three conspicuous aspects as follows.
First of all, the eighteen year old birthday is the most significant event to indicate a person’s maturity. At this age, a youth grows from an adolescent to an adult. Their physical conditions would change substantially that they can no longer be viewed as children. In addition, the age of eighteen is generally noted to be the legislating age to become an adult and bring a person more social responsibilities.
Moreover, a youth can attain a great opportunity to become an adult when pursue study away from family environment. Without careful attendance at home, one must learn to take care of him/her, plan his/her study schemes. As a result, one has more time and space to live and study alone and think independently.
Last but not least, the commencement ceremony of a student is an obvious sign of becoming an adult. After graduation, a student will face complexities of the real world and earn his/her living, which obliges him/her to enhance problem solving ability and critical thinking ability. For instance, one has to consider which career would best fit him/her into the society. Once get a job, it is inevitable to concern how to carry on harmonious relationship with colleges in the work place.
In conclusion, although many events may contribute to making a person an adult, I strongly commit to the notion that the eighteen year old birthday, commencement ceremony and outside study are three most typical and essential signs. They urge a person to think critically, solve problems independently, and so eventually lead a mature life. |
