147The following appeared in an editorial in a business magazine.

"Although the sales of Whirlwind video games have declined over the past two years, a recent survey of video-game players suggests that this sales trend is about to be reversed. The survey asked video-game players what features they thought were most important in a video game. According to the survey, players prefer games that provide lifelike graphics, which require the most up-to-date computers. Whirlwind has just introduced several such games with an extensive advertising campaign directed at people 10 to 25 years old, the age-group most likely to play video games. It follows, then, that the sales of Whirlwind video games are likely to increase dramatically in the next few months."

Careful examination of this supporting evidence, we will find some supporting evidence seem to be unconvincing.
  To begin with, the editorial uses a recent survey to support this claim. However, this convey is ambivalent and insufficient. The survey doesn't list the exact information of this survey; on the contrary, merely points out that video-game player prefer games that provide lifelike graphics. Moreover, this survey says nothing about why Whirlwind video game declined over the past two years. It is unconvincing that the next games will succeed before analyze the cause of the losing. The declination could be for many factors. Maybe people have been tired with these obsolete games, because the games are changing from one generation to another rapidly. Unfortunately, this survey doesn’t give us a sufficient and explicit explanation.
  In addition, the new games are aimed to the age-group from 10 to 25. However, these games require the most up-to-date computers. Survey fails to think about people from 10 to 25 are mainly students or people have worked only for a short time. Nevertheless, the up-to-date computers are always expensive, so most of them cannot afford these required computers. Consequently, the sales of Whirlwind video games are unlikely to increase dramatically. On the contrary, for the reason not taking the purchase ability into account, the sales will continue to decline.
  Finally, on account of survey haven't provided exact information, so it is probably that players they interviewed are not belonged to the age-group form 10 to 25. In other words, it is possible the people from 10 to 25 don’t think the lifelike graphics is the most important feature when they purchase video-games. If so, the whole process seems to be ridiculous. For losing to investigate from some very groups, the new games cannot meet the demands from neither people 10 to 25 nor others. That is to say, no people will like these new games. It is a fatal flaw to take actions before having detailed and accurate information about consumers.
  In the final analysis, the editorial uses an ambiguous survey to conclude that sales of Whirlwind video games will increase; however, cannot support its claim effectively. For the factors debated above, there is no reason to believe the survey's conclusion. Instead, the Whirlwind video games should analyze the cause of the declination of sale and then take some effective actions.
