Education will be truly effective only when it specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each students.

1.        Position
2.        To be more effective, education should try its best to meet the needs and interests of the individual.
3.        It is impossible to fulfill all students’ needs and interests.
4.        Education should also consider the needs of society.
5.        Conclusion

Education aims to train a great number of various talented people for different fields of society. Effective education is good for individuals and the whole society. It must try to meet individual interests and the needs of society.

First, it is said that interest is the best teacher. Everyone likes doing what he wants to do. Because he will not feel dull while it actually is, but find the process quite interesting. He will eagerly spend lots of time studying what he needs, not only in class, but also after class. We can easily imagine his hard work., and he must do a good job. But those students who are forced to learn something they dislike usually did not study well, neither do they feel happy. The disappointing result goes against education’s goal. Take Yang Zhenning for example. At the beginning he studied history, following his father’s advice. When he found himself good at physics and had no interest in history at all, he made physics as his major. Thanks to his decision, we lose a so-so historian, but get an outstanding physicist! If he sticked to previous study, he will not achieve such a great success as he has today. So education should try to meet students’ needs and interests so that they can study better.

However, it is impossible for education to fulfill each student’s needs and interests. We have to admit recources are limited..The school or university cannot supply each student an individual turtor and prepare specifically designed curriculum for everyone. Besides, there will not be enough libraries or laboratories, because it seems each student wants a library to find the books he needs, and a laboratory to do his sepecial experiment. The practicablity is zero. Even if all these above can be true, how many students can afford such high-level education? I am afraid none.

In addition, education should consider the needs of society. Every field needs enough talents to keep forging ahead. As human beings, we have social responsibilities, that is making contribute to society. If we only learn what we would like to, or what we think benefit us most, there will be big problems in our knowledge structure. We do not have systematic study, and know nothing about some basic realms. The quality of talents is degraded. Furthermore, some positions have too many workers while others lack labor force badly How can such a world develop in a healthy way? It is bad for us individuals too since we have much more difficulties in finding a job. Therefore, social factors must also be taken into account, seriously.

From all above, we come to the conclusion, effective education emphasizes not only individuals but also the while society.  In other words, on the base of giving students basic knowledge, education should try its best to meet individual needs and interest.

Issue 47
Society does not place enough emphasis on the intellect, that is, on reasoning and other cognitive skills.

Issue50
In order to improve the quality of instruction at college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach.
1.        not so simple

Issue214
Society should identify those children wo have talents and abilities and began training them at an early age so that they can evebtually excel in their areas of ability. Otherwise, these talents are likely to remain undeveloped.
1.        Disagree
5.        conclusion

Issue154
Both parents and communities must be involved in the local schools. Education is too important to leave solely to a group of professional educators
1.Agree

Education aims to train a great number of various talented people for different fields of society. Effective education is good for individuals and the whole society. It must try to meet individual interests and the needs of society.(这一段写的太长了,实际上只有一个意思,就是education should meet the students’ needs and interests.

First, it is said that interest is the best teacher. (这句话我只在中国听过,不知道外国对应的言语是什么)Everyone likes doing what he(在gre中凡是不确定性别的地方好像都要用she/he) wants to do. Because he will not feel dull (boring) while it actually is, but find the process quite interesting.(这句话我不理解) He will eagerly spend lots of time studying what he needs, not only in class, but also after class. We can easily imagine his hard work., and he must do a good job. (这里为什么主语忽然要变成we ?)But those students who are forced to learn something they dislike usually did not study well, neither do they feel happy. The disappointing result goes against education’s goal. Take Yang Zhenning for example. At the beginning he studied history, following his father’s advice. When he found himself good at physics and had no interest in history at all, he made physics as his major.(这个例子?) Thanks to his decision, we lose a so-so historian, but get an outstanding physicist! If he sticked to previous study, he will not achieve such a great success as he has today. So education should try to meet students’ needs and interests so that they can study better.(这一段你只是说明了兴趣是最好的老师,似乎并没有说明适应兴趣的教育对学生的重要性。

Furthermore, some positions have too many workers while others lack labor force badly How can such a world develop in a healthy way? It is bad for us individuals too since we have much more difficulties in finding a job. Therefore, social factors must also be taken into account, seriously.(我想着一段可以放在第三段的前面)

From all above, we come to the conclusion, effective education emphasizes not only individuals but also the while society.  In other words, on the base of giving students basic knowledge, education should try its best to meet individual needs and interest.

51.Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.

——————————————————————————————————————————
Of all the elements of success none is more vital than education, the cultivation of intellectual powers. In general, I agree with the assertion that education should aim at meeting the needs and interests of individuals and society, for the chief reason that everyone has different temperament and habit. Moreover, the main function of education in any level is to develop the merit of individuals and the significance of life to him/her and others. However, in my observation, not all students understand their individual needs and interests. Affirm one’s way of education by individual interest too premature may limit one’s ability and opportunity.

The chief reason why I generally agree with the statement is that students are the objects of the education, and teach students in accordance of their aptitude is the most essential principle of education. Student-centered education can most effectively involve individual students in the learning process. Profit from the student-centered education, a number of children growing up rapidly to become scientists, actor/actress, politicians and so on. There are innumerable examples that illustrate the importance of the needs and interests of the individual during their education. A good example is Buffon, the goalkeeper of Italy national football team, who did poorly in studying at traditional primary school. However, he has a genius for controlling and response on football play. His parents did not neglect his genius and interest, they stopped little Buffon’s studying in primary school and send him to football player school. Today, Buffon is known as the most outstanding goalkeeper in the whole world, he also help his team to win the 2006 FIFA Worldcup. This instance illustrate that not every child could adapt to the general school education, they need the education meet their inherence.

The second reason why I fundamentally agree with the statement is that the intellect, the talent and the capacity to improve oneself differ from person to person. What is more, people should have their own interests and proclivities. Education should take the full and absolute responsibility for young people to inculcate them with appropriate ways of developing interests. To that end, the diversity of the contents and ways of teaching plays the key role. Therefore, different approaches can trigger one’s imagination and explore one’s mind. It may create a whole new way of life one never be conscious of where I have belief in, the true meaning of education lies. But to conceive that if an education system only indiscriminatingly provides young people with same knowledge, how those who are intrinsically different from each other could take the full advantages and make full use of their own merits?

Nonetheless, winking at students’ unreasonable desires would only result in chaos in education. Because not all students are aware of their individual needs and interests. Firstly, the interests or needs what they call may vary from their ages larger. Determine one’s way of learning by individual interest too premature may limit one’s ability and opportunity. Secondly, if the way of education straightly indulge these variational interests and needs, the students may miss a array of essential knowledge, which is important and basic for every student. After all, student do not clear about which content of knowledge is the most concernful to themselves. For a common instance, to some students, nothing is important to their lives except the video games. They do not have any interest on any study process. For that reason, specifically designed education should not completely take the place of traditional general education.

In conclusion, it is true that education should face the interests of individuals and needs of the society. However, the teaching of basic knowledge can never be ignored.

Education aims to train a great number of various talented people for different fields of society. Effective education is good for individuals and the whole society. It must try to meet individual interests and the needs of society.(这句感觉很有点别~ 首段没有表明自己的立场吧  只是题目的复述  而且句子有点凑的感觉  要多钻研首段写作哦)

First, it is said that interest is the best teacher. Everyone likes doing what he wants to do. Because he will not feel dull while it actually is, but find the process quite interesting.(你的意思是枯燥的过程也会有趣是吧 不过这写法不太好吧 ) He will eagerly spend lots of time (on) studying what he needs,(;) not only in class, but also after class. We can easily imagine his hard working, and he must do a good job. But usually those students who are forced to learn something they dislike(doesn’t like) did not study well, neither do they feel happy.(句子自己再推敲一下表达方式吧 总觉得很难读懂 刚开始写不用太限时吧) The disappointing result goes against education’s goal. Tak Yang Zhenning for example.

We have to admit recources are limited..The school or university cannot supply each student an individual tutor and prepare specifically designed curriculum for everyone. Besides, there will not be enough libraries or laboratories, because it seems each student wants a library to find the books he needs, and a laboratory to do his special experiment. The practicability is zero. Even if all these above can be true, how many students can afford such high-level education? I am afraid none.

In addition, education should consider the needs of society. Every field needs enough talents to keep forging ahead. It is bad for us individuals too since we have much more difficulties in finding a job. Therefore, social factors must also be taken into account, seriously.

From all above, we come to the conclusion, effective education emphasizes not only individuals but also the while(whole) society.  In other words, on the base of giving students basic knowledge, education should try its best to meet individual needs and interest.

In this memo, the business manager of Valu-Mart stores recommend increasing at all stores the stock of home office machines and office supplies, so (用and assert试试)that the office-supply department will become the most component of their stores. Merely reasoned from a recent survey, the argument suffers from several critical flaws.

First and foremost, the memo argues on the essential base of the increasing need for home office machines while this premise is weakly supported. On one hand, the data of the recent survey needs questioning. How many people did the survey cover? The fewer, the more doubtful. Are these people representative enough? It is very likely that the surveyors only waited in the office-supply department and asked coming custom. Of course the respondents were those who needed home office machines, otherwise they would not have been there. On the other hand, even if the survey were well done and the result is reliable, that more people take more work home does not mean they have to add home office machines.

Secondly, even if there is increasing need for home office machines,(这句什么意思啊 应该是even if it is true the needs of home office machine is increasing) consumers may not buy what they want in Valu-Mart stores. In fact, there are so many stores, people have so many choices. It  depends on many factors, such as the quality, the price, individual preference and so on. Perhaps the consumer is so lazy that although Valu-Mart stores have the same products at a lower price, he will still do shopping somewhere much nearer. Or these days another store is doing a promotion, so people rush there to seek bargains.

Moreover, no evidence is given to support that their office-supply departments will become the most profitable component of the stores. Other departments are  also working hard to make more profit. It is too hard to say which one will be the most profitable without their sale records and future plans.

All in all, the argument is rather shaky. (这么用可以吗?the conclusion 对 shaky吧)To make it (more)convincing, the business manager has to offer more evidences proving the increasing need for home office machines and supplies. Besides, he had better do another survey to get a general idea about customs’ needs, such as what products are needed more, so that the store will not stock merchandise blindly.
