The society nowadays is so highly developed that nearly all the fields of studies are inherently interrelated. No field of study is absolutely separated from the others; as a result, the outsiders play an indispensable role in other field of study. In my opinion, however, undue(unduely) rely on the outsiders will result in less incentives to proceed.
First of all, the outsiders can contribute to the progress of the other field. A specialist in a particular field may possibly be confined in the narrow framework of his own field, but an outsider who stands by may perceive the problem in his view. Often enough, the brand new viewpoint will spark a solution to the problem. As a graduate student in the engineering field, I deeply feel that the other disciplines benefit the robotics study: my research direction. More specifically, there is a problem puzzled many scientists in the field since the 1960's. All of them went full tilt to solve the problem, and, indeed, progresses are made in the past period. However, not until a new mathematic tool was developed,(was) the problem was finally solved. It is an illustrative example that verifies the justification of the outsider's, the mathematics in this instance, function. Also, in other fields of study, similar things are always happening, the archeologist disclose the truth for the historians, the literature borrows inspirations from the socialist, and the civil engineering scientist get inspirations from the arts.
Moreover, the interrelation between the different fields will lead to a new field which utilizes the advantages of all the fields. For example, the mechanical engineering and electronic engineering are completely separable not many years before. But as the development of modern technology, a new word mechatronics, resulting from the mechanical and electronic, has emerged. This new field deals with all the possible areas related to the mechanical or electronic fields, but it deals with them as a whole, from a system point of view. A great many problems in the modern factories can be tackled by the new method. In fact, all the fields in the engineering are interrelated, such as the computer science, the material science, the automation science and the aeronautics etc,. For instance, the faster computation ability in the computer science can lead to a real time control of a rather complicated system.
Although the outsiders can benefit much in the other field, undue(unduely) rely on the outsiders will be detrimental not only for the field itself but also for the overall society. The specialist in a specific filed is familiar with what happened in his realm, but for the outsiders, it is completely new. It is the specialist who determines whether to adopt the outsider’s suggestion or not. If the specialist thoroughly depends on the outsider, maybe a disaster will happen. Moreover, all the people in a particular field have to think independently in order that the discoveries can be really original, which is rather crucial to the advancement of the society since the originality is the main spring for the progress. In this situation, I do not claim that the people in a field to be secluded from the outsiders. Rather, I insist that they be more active in obtaining their results.
In conclusion, as the fast increasing of the knowledge nowadays, the field of study is more and more specific; however, the interrelation between them is more and more intimate, and I guess that someday all of them will be integrated into a whole which can be used to explain the world or even the universe.
感觉文章开始提出的观点,文章应该侧重于说过分依赖于外界的危害,而后面的论证似乎过多停留于学科间的交流上了, 我感觉应该加强以下最后一段的论证. |
