  The video camera, a kind of modern electrical equipment, is used much more than ever before in people’ lives. The designer prepares the video camera its function both in taking pictures and recording the vivid movements. So many people believe that the video camera has become a more significant form of documentation than written records. But in my point of view, even though both the written records and the video camera have pros and cons, the written records weigh much and will never lose its importance because of its special advantages.

  In the first place, we can not deny the video documentation can be more vivid and direct than written records. In our daily lives, people use video camera as a tool to record the memorable moment and recall the unforgettable lives when they take the records out of the video camera. It is so vivid that we can still touch the feelings at that moment and treasure the beautiful time. For example the patty of our classmates and the family dinner party, we may still pleasure when watch the scene of happiness and the hearts’ converse. In the social work, the video camera functions as an important eye to record the significant moment which acts as a witness of accidence. As it is used in the news report, the affairs public concern and with historic importance should be record by the video camera.

  However, the disadvantages of video camera are limitations leading to their not being the most important form of documentation. First, people could not use the video camera in the past to record the facts because it is just common nowadays, but the history in our society is also important. So we must admit that the written records are effective as it go through thousands of years. Second, even in today, the video camera is not owned by all the people because it is expensive and inconvenient for some persons. Third and the most important, the video camera can not express the hint of a scene and inner moods and psychology of people, which can be described by authors in written form.

  Adversely, written records compensate the disadvantages of video camera and embody their special advantages. The written records can not just depict the surface of the fact, the image of a person or the outline of an object, but also record the comments or ideas of the author or the public, and analyze the personality of people. For example, the novel Mother written by gorgy, is a good depiction of all kinds of people and reflect the personalities and soul of them. Maybe the actors can not display the authentic persons in the novel according to the author’s purpose. And people would like to prefer reading than watching in order to understand the persons and affair carefully and positively. The written records show off the advantages of inner values which may lack in the video records.

  Further more, the written records advance their form and preserve the leading importance in future. With the development of electrical equipments and international exploration, the electrical books emerge. It uses the form of written records and improves as a popular form. Many people go through the internet to get the information in written words. So it is convenient both for the authors and readers to convey their opinions and converse with words.

  Above all, even though the video camera is more vivid than any other forms of documentation and reflect the scene with authenticity, it can not replace the written records because it lack the essence and advantages of written records whose disadvantages may easily be avoided.
