1.If a leaders stay in power for a long time or even till his death, will probably cause autocratic which could be a disaster for a country or a company. e.g. Stalin. The thinking of leader might become rigid after years of reign.

2.However, since the most important thing for a profession is to lead it towards better, while time is not the standard to measure it. e.g. Microsoft's Bill Gates, Jack Welch's reconstruction and 20 years as a CEO of GE.

3.The reason why we always choose five years as one term of leadership is the time is long enough for the leader to put in force his ideas to see if it works and not so long for his mind to become rigid. So, we use election to make this. e.g. Franklin D. Roosevelt. And public supervisal can be used to prevent corruption and misprison(渎职). e.g. Richard Nixon vs Watergate

4.Sometimes, it is only political reasons or fair consideration to make people in power for only  five years or sometimes longer--two five-year terms.e.g. general secretary of United States.
