Issue 51
Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.

ps: I can't fully agree with author's claim because it is impossible that vastly different intention and interest of each student be satiated by educational system that only have limited resource and the number of teachers.

a. Admittedly, current schools except colleges and university basically are not designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.
b. Education's responsibility for elementary student is not to completely meet interests of each student but to impart them with fundamental knowledge of science and humanities such as arithmetic, language skills and course of ethics.
c. College students should have sufficient opportunities and appropriate environment that are designed to meet their interest.

As speaker's allegation, will education be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student? Can you imagine that each student in any school can choose his most favorite courses and escape the one he hates? As my observation, I can't fully agree with speaker's claim because of some compelling argument.

Nowadays many elementary and high schools are not designed to fully meet students' interest as speaker's recommendation. All of these students get some compulsory courses and they have to pass the exam in the end of the semester. Although we all known that interest can impulse student’s learning process with more effectiveness, lots of schools still arrange compulsory courses in spite of hatred of some students. Comparatively, colleges are flexible schools in which a student can choose the major he likes and decide about the direction of his research and there are many advanced facilities in favor of his favorite field. Why do so many differences between two subsystems of education exist?  Is college education more effective than elementary and middle education?  In my opinion, there are three branches for solve the questions above.

In the first place, the fact that elementary and middle schools have huge number of students so many times than the number of college students results in such a great difference that it is impossible for education system to satiate vastly different intention and interest of each student because of its limited resource and the small number of teachers. Apparently, the ratio of teachers and students is much more higher in colleges than it in other schools and colleges also possess better hardware condition. Resource advantage enable college to contain many departments in which interested, keen students also can choose his favorite direction of research. Based on these facts I can give a conclusion that resource arrangement determines the ability of a school meeting the individual needs and interests of each student.

In the second place, education's responsibility for elementary and middle school's student is not to completely meet interests of each student but to impart them fundamental knowledge of science and humanities such as arithmetic, language skills and course of ethics. If an elementary student wildly completely devotes himself in the field he is very interested in he will lack indispensable fundamental skills needed by society that can be learned in school and this would prevent him from becoming a reasonable and productive citizen. So elementary and middle schools have to compel its graduates to accomplish a great deal of basic courses and hence they can be qualified with the social citizenship or entry of higher grade.

In the third place, although college may be more effective than elementary and mediate school, precollege   education is its necessary precondition. Generally, college students have gone through elementary and middle education that give them solid base of knowledge promise the entry into college. Therefore, in a suitable environment like college they can concentrate on the field that they interest in and so many advantages are in favor of their succeed. Student logically has better performance in college integrated with successful elementary and high education.

To sum up, from the point of view of reality and elementary education, author's assert appears some extent of arbitrariness. Whether education completely meets the individual needs and interest of each student should be decided by the stage of education.
