Some people said, "the study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten." I cannot agree with the first argument because the study of famous historical individuals could reflects the cotemporary conditions more effectively rather than the study of the multitude. In reference to the second point of view, I have different idea that the history was the creation of both the famous persons and the multitude.
Generally speaking, the historian focus most of study on the celebrities because the ideology and behavior of celebrities is able to represent the real societal condition. Through the reseach to the distinguished minority, people obtain characteristics of society and thought of multitude. I will take Abraham Lincon for an example. When Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860, slaves from northern states are eager for freedom when hostilities began between the North and South. Midway through the Civil War, Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed all slaves within the Confederacy and changed the war from a battle to preserve the Union into a battle for freedom. Present Lincon is the representive of slaves who desired for free and the multitude expecting union of the country. Hence, the study of Lincon gives us influential information of the United States in sixteen century.
However, we can’t ignore the significant effect of multitude to history. On one hand, they created the history under the lead of famous persons. Without the supporting of people including slaves and persons from northern states, and the sacrifice of over 600,000 Americans in the battle, the end of the Civil War and the reunion of America could not realize at all. The power of multitude is magnificent. On the other hand, majority’s mental requirement and discontentment to society are background of the famous people’s ideology. In nineteen century, Russia was under the autocratic controll of Czar. The life of Russian was very painful. They expected to overthrow the autarchy and built a new country. At this time, Lenin understanded people’s demand and led workers to start up the great October Revolution to liberate the multitude. Thereby, the thought of majority give immerse influenc to the determination of the celebrity and the development of  society.    
In conclusion, the history are created by famous persons and the multitude. Both of them played different roles in the important events in history. celebrity are pioneers of new societal trends while the flok are the resouce of the new trends and they are the participators of the important events. During the study of history, we should consider two sides effection to the history.
