Must we choose between tradition and modernization, as the speaker asserts? I tend to agree with the speaker that in some respects tradition and modernization are incompatible. Nevertheless, modernization and tradition can well coexist for most parts. 开头再详细一些,简要列出你要在下面说的
To begin with, from common sense we know that tradition can pass from one generation to another, and in most circumstance, exist in today's modern world with a significant influence on the world. A striking example in favor of this is the traditional Chinese medicine which coexists with the modern medicine in the present world. The reason is that traditional Chinese medicine has more advantage in curing chronic illness while modern medicine advances in acute illness. So neither of them can replace the other and they must coexist for the health of human being. Moreover, recently a combined treatment method with both traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine is used in China. The fact of well coexistence of Chinese traditional medicine with scientific modern medicine proves that tradition and modernization are compatible. 很好的例子,tradition & modernization coexist
Another compelling argument for tradition and modernization can coexist involves the festivals whatever in China or Western countries. With the development of modern economy and industry, the pace of our daily lives turns faster and faster. But no matter how fast it is, traditional festivals in modern society never vanish. And I think the spirit of these festivals-to get the family together- pass down ever since they came into being despite the modernization of society. Moreover, with the help of modern science and technology, our traditional festivals are greatly facilitated and more enjoyable. With the invention of microwave oven, we can save time of troublesome cook for the festival meals. And we can record it with modernized digital video cameras. Therefore, tradition can not only coexist with modernization but also be facilitated and given new meanings.
Admittedly, in some circumstance, tradition and modernization are exclusive. Consider the race discrimination in the USA. Black and other races were looked down upon by the white for centuries. And the sex discrimination comes to my mind when I find most colleges are only available to boys in the 19th century in America. Till now, some occupations are merely access to the male and men are more likely to promote to CEO or other key positions. And these evil traditions have to yield to the modernization which stands for democratic society and equal human rights. Thus, these unfair or evil traditions can not coexist with modernization and eventually be eliminated from this world. 注意:不要在作文中说敏感话题(种族歧视等)!!!!改掉
In conclusion, in most circumstances, modernization and tradition are compatible, especially those good, meaningful traditions which have effected human beings for centuries. As to those harmful and destructive traditions they are most likely to be eliminated by the process of modernization and supplant with new constructive things.
