As we know, people have different look, dress and act in different periods and societies. The speaker said that we could tell much about a society's ideas and values just through observing the appearance and behavior of its people. In my point of view, I basically agree with this issue. The reasons supporting my views will be listed as follows.

To begin with, we do not have to look very far is the history of human world to find out the close relationship between people's appearance and the society's values. Take the difference of our fathers' and our generation as an example. In the old pictures of my father twenty years ago, I can easily notice that the main character of people's appearance then is the clothes with the same style and color which is absolutely opposite to our colorful fashionable dress. Such discrepancy reflects that the uniform social status and goal of life in the past and the characteristic of advocating individuality nowadays. Differences are obvious and differences are greatly reflected by people's look and dress. If we cast a look back to before far more antique than the last generation, the comparison must be more sharply. Thus, the appearance of people does make sense in telling the values and conditions of that society.

In addition, people's act which reveals their attitudes and interests also reflects the society's ideas as the appearance does discussed above. In the past when the social productivity was pretty low and most people were busy in feeding and clothing their family, recreational activities were luxurious and not developed. Only limited rich people could enjoy those treatments such as watching wrestling in ancient Rome, bathing in milk and playing football in ancient China. Nowadays, such once sign of luxurious recreations are common in people's daily life because the society's condition, values and level of civilization are totally changed. From those behavior of people in everyday life whether in the past or in nowadays, we could easily to tell the differences between them.

All in all, just as the speaker said, the way people look, dress and act could probably reveal their attitudes and interests which can help us to tell about the ideas and values of the society in any periods of the human world.
