According to the speaker, education will be really effective when specifically designed to meet the requirement and interests of individuals, otherwise it will be with low effect. In my view, I agree that education is effective when satisfying individual needs and interests of each students. However, it is far from being truly effective when only satisfying individual interests and needs of each student.

First of all, satisfying each student's needs and interests will be an effective education. Before discussing this issue, we'd better to rethink the purpose of education, which might have two major aims: to inspire the learning desire of a student and to cultivate all kinds of experts for the development of society. As known to all, the interest is the best teacher. By satisfying the individual's interests and needs, the students can learn more effectively and actively. And by cultivating his or her special interest, we can provide elite for the society in some fields. Just like the ideal of Confucius, the greatest educator in ancient China, contended that teachers should provide different teaching means to serve different purposes of diverse students.

Nevertheless, meeting the individual needs and interests of each student can not guarantee education to be effective. In order to provide society with qualified workers, students have to be taught some basic lessons and some other courses to meet the fast developing society. Consider, a student who is gifted at history must be taught with some lessons such as computer science or geology. With this knowledge, he or she can perform better in the realm of history as he or she can be facilitated with the knowledge of geology in the archeological site and he can deduce or compute the time with the help of computer. Similarly, a student has interest on computer should be provided with more courses such as logic or statistics, with which he or she can program more logically and systematically. Thus, to make education be effective, besides meeting the needs and interests of each student, we must require the student to learn some basic lessons as well as some auxiliary courses.

Additionally, the feasibility of meeting the needs and interests of individuals is doubted in two respects. First, not all the students know what really his or her interest is, and their interests are changing as they growing older. For example, one of my neighbors who was a 10 years old boy had great interest on football. So his parents satisfied his interest by sending him to a football training school. But until now, it is two years past and he said he did not like football any more, he want to go to classes. What's the worse, he waste two years time of school education, and had to begin with the lessons two years early. Second, to satisfy the interests of each student may cause the school education in chaos. To our common sense, there are so many students and the number of teachers is far more less. Moreover, the education facilities can not be enough for different needs of students. So it may lead to a hectic system of school education.

To sum up, I agree with the speaker's claim insofar as specifically designed education to meet individual's needs and interests will be effective, however, I disagree it is the only way to make education truly effective.
