47"Society does not place enough emphasis on the intellect—that is, on reasoning and other cognitive skills."
——————提纲————————
TS: Cognitive skills such as reasoning and logical deduction are actually emphasized, and even the society pays too much attention on the intellect so that it overwhelms the importance of human's emotion.
The speaker contends that society does not place enough emphasis on the intellect, but I hold, on the contrary, that such cognitive skills as reasoning and logical deduction(education)(dallenlin好像改错了吧,deduction是演绎推论的意思) is actually emphasized, and the society even pays too much attention on the intellect so that it overwhelms the importance of human's emotion.(第一眼看你的提纲和中心九感觉很好,立意很新颖)
It is from the ancient times that people have shown the reverence to scholars who are erudite(博学能用来形容逻辑推理吗?) in reasoning and the logics, such as Aristotle and Socrates. Alexander(这三个是固定称谓吗?不是最好加个",") the Great, who was the first militarist conquered the world, had been Aristotle's student when young and still esteemed his teacher after became the great governor.(前面已经说称霸世界了,这里又重说感觉有点多余) This illustrates that even if in the period of which(删) the civilization was much less developed, intellectual scholars were idolized by their contemporary. Nowadays, the modern education is still stressing on the development of students' intellectual ability. There are innumerable tests which are(designed)(直接用designed 更好!) for examining test-takers' academic knowledge, and result in intensifying the competition among intellects, but examinations about the ethnics or emotions are scanty. Besides, the courses for leading students to form the healthy character or cultivate(cultivating) the EQ(emotional quotient) are very few and immature, and are always downplayed by both faculty and students.(结尾为下一段瞒下伏笔)
On the other hand, today's society has been(用is不就行啦吗?) more pragmatic than ever before. Practicality, which stands for the pragmatic considerations as the needs of the economy, expectation of easily seeking a job and desires of obtaining a satisfactory salary, has become the great idol of people. For instance, there are a growing number of students who, even if are interested in Arts, would rather than(删) choosing the computer science as their major, while there are much less students willingly(willing句子简洁一点比较好)deciding(删) to study literature. The reason is that computer knowledge may serve as a skill that is likely(删) to bring about(provide就好了) a high-income job, but the literature, even if also completes people’s quality, however, is relatively theoretical and even can not be considered as a “skill” for earning a life. Thus, practicality drives people to seek more proficient skills for manufacturing and higher academic knowledge for technical research in order(删) to improve the industrialization. Under this circumstance, the requirement of enhancing emotion and sentience shares ever less concern of society.
However, the emotional quotient is of equal(equally) important as intelligence quotient. As the recent result of a research shows, emotions have the potential to get in the way of our most important business and personal relationship since we humans are social animals. Hence, although intellect may determine people's working ability, research ability and learning ability, the key of being successful is emotional quotient, which is the capacity for effectively recognizing and managing our own emotions and those of others. For further lending credence to my position, I can think of no better illustration of the idea than following case. Bill Clinton, who was(删) the president of the United States, had been tangled in several scandals when he was in the White House, and the most stirring one is his love affair with Monica Lewinsky. This sex scandal was fully utilized by Clinton's opponents for trying to defeat him and he was nearly impeached. According to a flurry of polls by The Washington Post during that period, notwithstanding, Clinton's approval ratings increased, and even reached the highest point during his leading era, as his leadership was satisfying and personality was attractive. In another word, Clinton won Americans' supports from battles of scandals by his extraordinary charisma.(这段最好举一个智力不高,但是IQ令其成功的例子)(我觉得这个例子不好你说:‘尽管intellect能决定工作、研究或学习能力,但成功关键还是EQ 人是社会动物应当好好communicate’但是bill Clinton 是成功的但是eq不高的人!!!所以不是很适合,可以举“Edward Teller ”)To conclude, society should place enough emphasis on the cultivation of people’s emotional quotient in order to keep the balance of its development, since human's civilization is not flourished only by intellect, but also by sentiment which labels the civilization as the history and culture of humanity.
论证过程很好啊~~文章流畅,就是有些句子写得累赘~~ 我的感觉你的文章总体很好,如果考场能写这样的文章要是我就已经很满足了嘿嘿
