I agree with the speaker’s broad assertion that governments should focus on solving the immediate problems of today. However, trying to solve the expected problems of the future also essential and need carefully considered.

Undoubtedly, immediate problems that agonize and afflict people mostly, such as contagions, drug addiction, crimes, wars, unemployment and so forth. Since the existence of these problems extremely danger the normal living of public, the government need pay important attention on them before the problems become worse. I like take natural hazard for example, after a tsunami invade a city, the government must adopt apt measure as soon as possible to minimum the damnification. Otherwise, the polluted water will contaminate the neighboring cities; the epidemic will spread among people, and the economy will paralysis in the city if without help from their country.

However, it is misconception that governments can ignore the anticipated problems of the future in favor of the immediate ones, even though the latter may be more urgent. Sometimes, a trouble appears going with the solving of another problem. For instance, the government decide to build a power plant in suburb for fulfill the need of increasing residents in city, if without a long-term consider about how to deal with the waste water emitted from the factory, than environment pollution will be another problem, more serious than that of electric provide, to the city.

Furthermore, it is a fact that a quantity of difficulties which are dangers our society mostly can not be resolved immediately as our expected even if they were paid enough attention. Such as diseases of AIDS, which has been researching without pause since it was been founded several decades years ago. When the government makes a decision to invest in this research, whether other aspects of problem will associated raised during the period of study on the bacterin should also be considered. Firstly, strengthen propagandism on AIDS of how the disease contaminate among human beings and of how to prevent it to eliminate mental afraid in commonality on this disease. Secondly, summon the masses not to discriminate those who unfortunately infect this sickness and assisting them when they needed. Most importantly, always encourage those infected people on spiritual, psychological and physical for helping them keep expectation.

In sum, the speaker’s assertion that forces on solving the instant problems of today is a precondition of developing our society which can get rid of parts of obstacle in the way of social progress, but what should always be in mind is that to avoiding the condition that many unexpected condition which generated in the progress can not be figure out appropriate a long-term scheme is required and also do sufficient preparations.
