The speaker asserts that one have to take any means to accomplish his/her goal if it is worthy. I agree with the speaker insofar as that if the worthy goal is admitted by the public and have no harm to society, one should try his best to attain it, while one should abort the goal which is worthy just for himself but have lots of negative influence to others or conflict with the moral or ethical standards.

Undoubtedly, goal plays an absolutely necessary role in people’s life, the development of a country and even the advancement of human society. A person without goals is just like a bird without wings. However, a worthy goal I advocate here is more than a personal aim, and it’s a broad goal for benefits of more people and for the development of society. A good example was established by Madame Curie, who denoted her life for the science without fearing the danger of radioactive element or considering personal benefits. Meanwhile, the goal we are talking about must be reality or feasible. If it is an entirely unreal goal such as turning a rock into gold, no mater what means does a person taken cannot make this goal attained.

However, we have to emphasize that to attain one's own goal should never sacrifice other people's profits and break the laws. Take an extreme example. If a hospital regards earning a great amount of money as his goal, can it achieve its goal by selling its patients fake pill? Of course the method is not justifiable, what is more, it has broken the laws, and thus what it will attain is not the money but the punishment or imprisonment. Consequently, we can conclude that even if a goal is worthy for certain people, they still should take legal means to fulfill it.

Moreover, the means taken to attain a goal should also consider the moral or ethical standards. Although sometimes the means taken to attain a goal does not break the laws, it possibly does not conform to the moral or ethical standards, and then it is still not justifiable. For instance, some scientists try to clone human, though the goal may be worthy from the view of those scientists and some countries also do not forbid such study using law, but considering from ethics, the study should not be continued because it can bring unrespectable problems to the society.

To sum up, we encourage a person to accomplish his goal that is realistic by the legal means which are under the constriction of the moral and ethical standards. Meanwhile, we oppose the harmful goals and the unscrupulous means to achieve goals.
