Government should preserve publicly owned wilderness areas in their natural state, even though these areas are often extremely remote and thus accessible to only a few people

Wildness areas play an important role in many aspects on earth no matter how remote they are. I agree that our government should preserve them. However, just leaving those wildness areas in their natural state may be neither enough nor efficient to protect them. Some measurements should be taken to keep the wildness areas in their good shape if necessary.
First of all, wildness areas are indispensable for creators on earth. Wildness areas usually serve as the habitats of many animals and plants which are very important for the diversity of species and some of animals and plants are crucial to our human beings. Take cross-fertilizing rice, the descendent of wild rice for instance, outputs large amounts of food to solve the starvation problems. Moreover, forests in wildness can help renew the atmosphere. For example, Amazon Forest, the largest forest in the world consumes tones of carbon dioxide and meanwhile generates amounts of oxygen to the atmosphere leading to the stead components of the atmosphere. In addition, some wildness areas contain rich natural resources such as oil, gas, metal mineral and so on having research value for geologists. Wildness areas are so important that we should not disturb the function of them.
Accordingly, just letting those wildness areas in their natural state does not necessarily assures that they can function well. Although preventing people from hunting and deforesting in wildness areas can help protect the wildness lands, wildness areas still cannot keep themselves intact. In recent years, with the rapid development of science and technology, our living environment has been polluted to some extent. Toxic gas and polluted water are likely to expand to wildness areas and damage their natural state. In the end, some species including those on the brink of extinction cannot adjust to the spoiled environment and then die. Under such circumstance government must pay more attention to manage them by making some valid laws to minimize the danger human beings bring to. So if the natural state of wildness areas is destructed we must take certain measurements to improve this situation rather than just leaving them where they are.
However, we should preserve wildness areas even though they are extremely far from us due to the great values from them. But it does not mean that our human beings can not make use of them for ever. As a matter of fact, some lands without obvious values can be reasonably used to satisfy modern needs. One telling historical example involves the Las Vegas City built on a desolated desert. It attracts hundreds and thousands of travelers every year and provides lots of jobs positions for the local people.
To sum up, publicly owned wildness areas are of importance for all creators on earth. It is necessary for government to protect them and preserve their original functions. At the same time, we should make fair evaluation of certain lands. If they are proved to be useless even harmful, we can take advantage of them and make them benefit us in a reasonable way.
