We may find out that, people who resort to fortune-telling, astrology and such non－mainstream area of inquiry unusually are ill educated and underclass of the society.
Indeed, the main reason that why non－mainstream area of inquiry is favored by a few people is that it comforts people who worry about their destiny.
Besides, non－mainstream area of inquiry also plays an important role to satisfy peoples’ curiosity about the unknown world.

As we are living in the information-technology age, science as the mainstream areas of the inquiry, plays a more and more important role in the world. They develops day by day in order to satisfiy people's growing need. However, we should not ingnore the non-mainstream areas of inquiry, because astrology, fortune-telling, and such areas are also very important in satifying people's need which cannot be satisified in the mainstream areas. They are the strong suppliments to the mianstream science in meeting people's need.
At first, we may find out that the non-mainstream areas of inquiry are always with no support of mainstream science. In another word, the non-mainstream areas of inquiry are based on the people's subjective mind. for an instant, astrology is based on the shape of the constellations all over the sky. nevertheless, the constellations do not really exist in the sky, actually they are stars. Just because astronomers define the constellation to a group of star by considering the appearment of the star group in order to make their reseach on the stars more convenient and more systematized. In fact, non-mainstream areas of inquiry are comparatively low-grade study based on the human's subjective mind with few evidences. They are in the low-grade.
ever the non-mainstream areas of inquiry are in the low-grade, they can also satisfy some people's need. In the modern society, even the science is developing in a high level, it cannot explain everything we meet and every phenomenon we see in the world. As some phenomenons are too strange for people to accept, people begin to use their subective mind to construct a theory in order to explain the strange phenomenons. Fortune-telling is one of such theories. Fortune-telling defines the occurrences into several types, so when people meet strange things, they can use the Fortune-telling theroy to find out what the things mean by their types. Non-mainstream areas of inquiry can satisfy human needs that are not addressed by mainstream science.
However, we cannot think the non-mainstream areas of inquiry so much. Still it can explain something which we could not get a suitable explanation through the mainstream science, it is subjective. As the world is full of objective things, the subjective theroy could not have much more achievement. In fact, almost the things in the world exist in the objective roles and some other things which we cannot explain objectively now can be explained in future. The non-mainstream areas of inpuiry is important in comforting people when they meet strange things until those things can be explained by the mainstream science.
In conclusion, the mainstream science is playing a very important role in the world, explaining almost the things happens around peolpe, however, as the mainstream science is not enough developed to explain all the things around us, people also need the non-mainstream study to give us a explanation when we meet strange things. non-mainstream study is a imprtant supplyment to the mainstream science, also playing an important role in the world.
