152 "The only responsibility of corporate executives, provided they stay within the law, is to make as much money as possible for their companies."

For the reason that the ultimate aim of corporate executives is to maximize the companies’ profits, some of them maintain it as the mere motto of their life. However, when it conflicts with the law, while they are not willing to abandon what they have achieved, what should a real responsible executives do? Furthermore, even their conduct are admited by law, what else should they do who serve as the captains of their companies?Thus, my persuasion is that corporate executives should expand their aim to meet the personnel’s satisfaction, pomote others people’s life, on the basis of the boundary of law.

Admittedly, the law is the norm of social behavior, and thus the coporate executives should draft the corporations’ policies, judge economic conducts according to law. Unfortunately, the net of law is not throughly air-tight, and inevitablely there are loopholes that some companies will take advantage of, such as Li Jing in China, who called himself as CEO of embassy on the moon and sold the land of the moon. He utilized there is no abstact law towards the ownership of land on moon, and put the cats among the canaries---hunderds of people spend much money to buy land on moon, while results, of course, in vain. Although Li engaged in his work within the law apparently, their behavior goes againest morality and ethnics. As long as the law are not perfect enough, earning money through whatever way may sometime be troublesome.

Secondly, earning money as much as possible is not the full theme of executives, as far as I am concerned, they are also responsible for establishing the corporation culture, which will lead companies develop healthily and form harmounious atmosphere. Google is such an good case. Its harmonious evironment is set up through providing “food within 100 feet”, free service for maintaining voiture, licence plate, instructive entertainment in festivals. Therefore, in this free atmosphere, every member of corporation is willing to devote their time and efforts into work and  raise their talent into full play, which will enlarge the revenue in turn.

Moreover, executives should still shoulder the responsibility to raise donation for charity or other undertakings, such as for eduction, for disabled, for orphans. Giving a hand to other needed people will help themselves to form a favorable image, and more important, to promote the common progress. That is the very reason that Bill Gates and his wife Melinda established a foundation aimed at the cause of global heath and education commonweal. The same did Warren Buffett that donat 30 billion for charity already. As Kennedy said that, “Ask not what your country can do for you---Ask what you can do for your country”, the truely excellent executives proved that sometimes you earn, and sometimes you must pay, pay for the better life of human beings.

In sum, money is not everything, although you can get them through your own efforts within the limit of law. What else should a responsible executive do is to concern about others happiness as well, which will in turn become his own happiness.
