TOPIC: ISSUE74 - "The most effective way to communicate an idea or value to large groups of people is through the use of images, not language."

According to the speaker, image is a more effective means of communication than language. I agree that image plays an important role in intercourse between large groups of people due to its directness of expression, however, there is far more to describe in life than what image can show. Thus, the speaker overstates the comparative significance of picture as a contact tool.
For the purpose of making others understand what we want to deliver ourselves of, I agree that an image is usually more intuitional and more objective than words. Such as, financial charts can help accountants simplify headachy Byzantine tax statistics and military maps can help generals escape from a heap of quizzical regional names without position marked. Also, it is impossible for anyone, no matter how keen an observer and skilled a journalist, to recount in complete and objective details such events as carnival, and it is difficult to one to left a deep impression on a report about casualty of Indian Ocean tsunami, but image can. Simultaneously, though this kind communication is indirect, human can express their own emotion through graph. For example, stirring up prevalent anti-war fever, the photos of Vietnam War communicate photographer's great sorrow and deep remorse. As an artist with strong sense of justice, Pable Picasso painted Guernica in 1937 as so to express the indignation at German barbarous activity. Thereupon, the potential of images as a tool to communicate ideas, to teach and educate, to engage people and to empower them is extremely high.
However, the growing communication role of images is not unlimited to impalpable events unlike those described above. Firstly, image is of little use when it comes to put up a person's subjective state of mind, impressions, or reflections of an event or experience. A notable thinker would not be equal to an excellent artist. We are reading philosophical works of Plato imagining how strange the writings are depicted by a series of pictures. Secondly, it is also difficult to anyone to define abstract scientific concept by images. Hence, it is a reason that the famous debate of Quantum mechanics between Albert Einstein and N. Bihr mainly utilize not images but language. Finally, graph is of no use in statistical or other quantitative information.
Indeed, to the extent that personal interpretation adds dimension and richness to the communication, language is actually more important than images. When expressing intrapersonal emotion, like simple love, hate, and pleasure and so forth, words are far more applied and convenient than images. It is hard to imagine that everyone take a paintbrush to paint their idea each day. Moreover, to the certain sphere of business and law, a written records is stricter than images, as a result, certain legal matters are best left to written documentation. Besides, words left the boarder imagine spare to reader. For instance, many readers, as a large group of people, prefer Da Vinci Code written by Dan Brown to movie on the basis of novel whose recondite chapters express writer’s value, because films may cut this kind of spiritual communication by words and sentences.
In sum, the speaker's claim overstates the importance of images in large groups, at least to some extent. When it comes to express the real world, images are inherently more objective and direct. However, what we view through a piece of picture provides only one dimension of our life and times; language will always be needed to bolster world around us.
