Although nowadays human is the only master on the earth, we cannot achieve the present living standards without the significant contribution accomplished by various kinds of machines. Unlike the author, I would rather consider several kinds of those machines as the partners or even friends of human rather than the tools of human minds. To better illustrate my viewpoint, I will discuss in the following details.

In the past times, machines that human invented and improved are not as intricate and intelligent as those created recently, therefore they can only be the servants of humans. Though machines such as mechanical machines are complex in construction, or can provide amazing force which is way too superior to the labors', just as they did in the realm of agriculture, heavy industry or so on, they cannot work without the direction given by their masters--we human beings. In other word, they are unable to think, analyze, conclude and finally decide what to do and how to better solve the problems by themselves. They are nothing but pieces of metals or stones unless they are controlled by humans. These non-intelligent machines are indeed inferior to human minds, and obviously are our loyalty and powerful maids. Never can they rebel the orders of humans, for they simply cannot realize what is to rebel.   

However, as the technology develops at an astonishing speed, even more powerful machines have already existed for decades. In such cases the author's assertion seems a little presumptuous. Tiny as these may be compared with their ancestors, they are endowed with the thinking center which permits them stronger abilities and much higher status than their ancestors. Intelligent machines usually has micro computers in their body, and with their brains, they can work without being directed by their masters in every step, just as the intelligent auto-washing machines. They are able collect information, study it, finally report the results or conclusions to us, just as those PCs with stock analysis software do. Furthermore, the artificial intelligence are cultivated in several labs in the world aims to train real smart machines workers not only with the human shape but have nearly the same minds as human does. If such research succeeds, obviously those powerful machines are no longer the tools of human beings, for the simple reason that they are not without their self-awareness. Once such machines can recognize the existences of themselves, actually they become real lives that are equal to us. Although the research has not yet developed to such level, with extant intelligence machines are already not the tools of humans.

Such opinions that the humans are forever superior to the machines may bring about troubles and disorders or even mayhem to the human world, if the artificial intelligence does not slow its pace of development. In many films like 'The Matrix','Terminator', humans are nearly annihilated by smart machines upon which were looked down by humans. In my view that may not merely be nightmares unless we change our attitude towards the growing machine intelligence. Once machines can think themselves, they are nearly the same as the humans. They can help the human much more than before because they are smarter; and for the same reason they may bring us larger destructions if they are badly and unfairly treated as slaves by human beings. Therefore, it may be better and wiser for human to accept machines as friends and partners rather than inferior tools.

In summary, without the machines human cannot govern the world. Whether the machines are intelligent or not, we shall respect them in the emotion level. And furthermore, such reverence may be inevitable when we face with those smart ones.
