TOPIC: ISSUE38 - "In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books."

It is known to all that television, as one of the most indispensable inventions in the 20th century, makes people's spirit world more colorful. However, I still can not agree with the speaker and in my viewpoint, television can not take place of the documental records, especially the books.  A careful examination of the speaker's claim would reveal that how groundless it is.

To begin with, it may go without saying the important role of the television. Our life style and propensity has changed tremendously since the advent of the television.  As a main media, it is a great source of political, economic, social and cultural information for the citizens in many countries.  The news, no matter local or international one, can spread as fast as possible by television. People can easily "travel" to some places that they cannot reach in our living time by watching a geography program on TV, which is unimaginable to the ancestors. Some talk shows even create a kind of instant culture in people's daily life. In a word, Pushing a button to open TV is usual habit for a lot of modern human beings.

However, the influence of books is also significant. Since the paper and printing was invented in China and bruited into Europe by Arabians, the book is the main resource of information and a way of learning. Even in this era of development of the science and technology, books still maintain the own advantages. Compared with television, books are more convenient to take with and repeatingly learn knowledge for individual learner. Taking a look around, we can still find several people chose to read the book in their hands when they are waiting for buses or in the benches of some parks. Though books don't provide sounds and vivid video, they leave us enough spaces to imagine, leave us enough time to stop where we haven't totally understand, and leave us ourselves to decide what to read and when to read.

Besides, maybe television has the some effect to book for entertainment, but book undeniably does more with academically learning.  It is hard to find some academic information on TV, such as archaeology or physics, so that when people prepare for a paper, the best way to collect information is absolutely going to library or bookstores, not watching TV all day long. Considering the price of books, the majority of schools use books for education, and the margin of books are also very convenient for students to take notes. Over all, just like a Russian writer said, the book is the ladder for people to make progress.

To sum up, though television is now the primary source of political and social information as well as entertainment programs for a majority of people throughout the world, from the discussion above, we'd rather resort to reading books for the acquiring of knowledge which provides us more convenience and specialization.

结构清晰。

语言从开头到结尾呈现越发中式化趋势，呵呵，开头很好，越到后来越有些Chinese了。

逻辑上提一小点，就是题目说的是看电视比读书学到的东西更多，你不同意应该说读书学到的东西更多，或者两者都能学到东西同样重要。这时候关于书是否方便携带这样的例子就不太好了，因为方便不一定学到的东西多。此外，放眼四周，很多等巴士的人都在看书，也不能说明书能让人学的更多。你应该举一些具体的例子，说明书让人学到了什么，而电视没能让人学到这些。

吹毛求疵哈。。。
