It is asserted by the speaker that the only responsibility of corporate executives is to make as much money as possible so long as they stay within the law. However, in my point of view, companies have much more responsibilities that they should make every effort to facilitate the development of the society and at the same time be restricted by the moral regulations.

It should be admitted that as a major body of the market, companies' most important object is to earn as much money as they can. Karl Marx concluded in his notable work "the theory of capital" that the companies, as a principal part of the market, set the interests pursuing as their ultimate goal whatever they do in the market, which is according to the disciplinarians of the market. It is quite understandable because only by obtaining sufficient money can a company possess the capital to invest and act. A company would never able to base itself upon the market full of competition if it had no money at all.

However, as a principal part of the society, the development of a company is vitally influenced by the whole society, which demands the companies to advance the society when it is developing. For companies, the society acts as the habitat of the residents. As is known to everybody, while we live in our habitats, we fetch food and everything we need from the environment around us. On the other hand, better environment can provide more food and satisfaction for us to live in. It is similar as the case of companies and their societies. A company acquires interests from every body of the society, while better society supplies more equal and more steady environment for the company to develop in. Therefore, the company should make every effort to advance the development of its society, which can in turn facilitate its own grow.

In addition, since the leader of any company is human beings, the acting of companies should be restricted by the humans' moral rules. Everybody in this society, whether he is in America or he is in Britain, is under the surveillance of other people around him. As the public opinions plays more and more crucial role in every nation of this world, people who violet moral principles are not allowed by the public, which is far more important for a company. Once a company offends the moral principles of the society, the bad fame going around quickly can at once flood the company, which can ultimately influence the interests of the company. What the company has done, even though it is all for pursuing interests, in the end obtained the opposite effect from its initial goal.

To sum up, companies should spare no effort to facilitate the development of the society. Also, companies have the responsibility to comply with the moral rules in the society. Such responsibilities aside from pursuing interests are necessary both for companies and for the whole society.
