Should scandals be regarded as the useful way for the public to focus their eyes on the problems embedded in the society? The speaker alleges that scandals could be more efficient than any form of propaganda, such as an eloquent speaker or diligent reformer, to consolidate justice, liberty and democracy. I concede that sometime scandals serve as the alternative way to attract more public concentration to ensure benign development, however, excessive chasing on scandals could be counterproductive and mislead people to the side-walk of gossip, which do great harm to academia, politics and ideology.

Admittedly, scandals disclose egregious abuses of power, privilege and notorious academic counterfeits which might be escaped from regular surveillance. No other factors are as effective as scandals to invoke public inquiry for further investigations that probably ensues unprecedented changes. Current scandals of nine state's attorney dismissal unveiled the secrets hidden in the office of Justice Department and more importantly slammed in the face of the ostentatious separation of powers, thus inspire overwhelming public interests in supervising government administration and political behavior. And never had Mr. Wolfowitz expected his long farewell to the World Bank under the scandal of infringe the ethical rules of providing the pay rise and promotion for his sweetheart, even if after their success of bamboozling the board.

Back to the academic fields, counterfeit scandals might be the last way to keep the academic world innocent since self-restrain becomes less part of a scientist in recent years. There's no need to remind people that only until the scandal of fabricating results of key stem cell research emerged from the behind did Science, the world leading scientific journal, withdraw all faked articles written by Dr. Hwang Woo Suk from its issues, or did Soul University establish the special committee to investigate all his work sponsored by the government funds. Without the disclosure of the scandal, I believe, Dr. Hwang might still keep his title of top scientist in Korea and deceived his people of false achievements in the field of stem cell study, although there's strict censorship of any paper published on Science and complicated regulations for the national research funding.

Nevertheless, scandal could hardly be the prospective way to attract attention on specific political, social or academic affairs. On the contrary, excessive chasing or overemphasis on scandals might mislead public focus and waste limited social resources. Just look back to the second tenure of Bill Clinton's stay in White House. Obviously, hundreds of thousands dollars were spent on the futile investigation of the president's involvement with the White House intern. And quite numbers of staffs had to leave their responsibilities at office to cooperate with special prosecutor Starr. What if those money and personnel were signed to national security issues? For that matter, there might be another day for those people working in the two towers of World Trade Center.

Moreover, expecting our social reforming triggered by scandals might be as dangerous as boarding onto a wrecking ferry. Further we want go, the more we peril our lives. There's no doubt that our values of privacy, dignity and love would be shattered under the pressure of scandals in every aspects of our lives. Take a look at the notorious scandals in the history, scandals of Watergate cover-up brought us resigned President Richard Nixon, financial scandal of Enron left us bankrupted corporations and discredit executive officers facing serial of prosecutions. Scandals always leave us suspicion to our existing values which could probably impede our steps.

In sum, scandals could be our last chance to reveal the sins of humanity. We might never say goodbye to it in the fields of social activity, academic work and any other areas. There might be the possibility for us to get some advantage from scandals, however, social development should be rely on more aggressive ideological modification or reforming and leaves least way by wide spread of scandals.

Moreover, expecting our social reforming triggered by scandals might be as dangerous as boarding onto a wrecking ferry. 这个比喻很好Further we want go, the more we peril our lives. Should scandals be regarded as the useful way for the public to focus their eyes(这个表达是不是有问题?) on the problems embedded in the society?

Current scandals of nine state's attorney dismissal(中国的还是美国的?不清楚这个例子) unveiled the secrets hidden in the office of Justice Department and more importantly slammed in the face of the ostentatious separation of powers, thus inspire overwhelming public interests in supervising government administration and political behavior. And never had Mr. Wolfowitz expected his long farewell to the World Bank under the scandal of infringe the ethical rules of providing the pay rise and promotion for his sweetheart, even if after their success of bamboozling the board.(LZ的写作词汇量蛮大的)

Hwang Woo Suk(我很佩服你知道这么多人名字) from its issues, or did Soul University establish the special committee to investigate all his work sponsored by the government funds. Without the disclosure of the scandal, I believe, Dr. Hwang might still keep his title of top scientist in Korea and deceived his people of false achievements in the field of stem cell study, although there's strict censorship of any paper published on Science and complicated regulations for the national research funding.(例子很好的)

Take a look at the notorious scandals in the history, scandals of Watergate cover-up brought us resigned President Richard Nixon, financial scandal of Enron left us bankrupted corporations and discredit executive officers facing serial of prosecutions.(我觉得这两个事件的好处还是大于坏处的) Scandals always leave us suspicion to our existing values which could probably impede our steps.

LZ 的态度两面都赞成的写作目的的话,那就没得问题了
