The high-speed development of science and technology, have not only solved many problem in human society but also bring human’s a rising level of ideas and thoughts. However, the way of exploiting the world’s secrets and truth has no end. Therefore, there are plenty of problems and phenomena which trouble and confuse people are cant’ explain via mainstream science. Consequently, some non-mainstream areas of inquiry appears and play a vital role in society by satisfying human needs before mainstream science can answer all questions.

Admittedly, mainstream sciences are the essentials to construct out human society and technology. During the process of human society’s development, mainstream sciences have contributed much to humans, without which we can’t have today’s prosperous development and solved numerous mysteries. The social mainstream science such as sociology, demology, philosophy, psychology, politics, and so forth, help people know more about themselves and others, and also help the society to be more stable and safe. The nature mainstream science such as physics, biology, chemistry has created many convenience and benefit to humans, which made the society more advanced and comfortable to live. What’s more, it is the mainstream that explains so many mysteries in the world and which that had confused humans a long time. Therefore, mainstream is indispensable for a society to have continuous development and progress.

However, mainstream sciences have much room to develop and improve, as there are many questions and mysteries that they can’t explicit. Such as the common called ‘the Sixth feeling’, the fact that one may endure something he had dreamed a long time before, and many businesses have all bankrupted if they use the same house for business. Many non-mainstream areas of inquiry as astrology, fortune-telling, and psychic and paranormal pursuits have their own system of science in different aspects and methods to explain the troubles mentioned above and provide their own ways to avoid or solve these problems. As a result, non-mainstream science has a positive effect in placing some people’s anxiety and curiosity about the unknown world. For instance, when my home was going to move to another place, my mother, who are very particular with the psychic science, went to inquiry an old man who are very specific at this non-mainstream science and have helped many people to avoid disasters or harms in life. The old man asked my mother about the particular conditions of my house, such as the direction of windows, the locations, the time of our moving, and advise my mother to carry the pan and kettle first the day before our moving, which can restrict the negative effects created by the moving activity. Mother followed the advice and now live in our new house peacefully and happily.

What’s more, non-mainstream sciences provide people with definite imaginations and interests to dream. As there are full of fierce competitions in the modern society, people become more stressful with more pressure coming from every aspect. Many may also have lost heart for future and be pessimistic all the time. The mainstreams science can’t place them or even hurt them with the ruthless reality, however, the non-mainstream science such as the fortuning-telling, the paranormal pursuits may extricate them to have another kinds of thoughts which is totally different as the common ones. Thus, they can have dreams with fantastic imaginations or spiritual props which they can’t find in mainstream science.

Though non-mainstream science has so many advantages and functions in satisfying people, they are not proved to be reasonable and true entirely. If we depend on it excessively, it possibly has negative influence to harm our normal life and thoughts. We should conform to the mainstream science as a premise and priority and pursue non-mainstream sciences properly.
