My point of contention with the speaker involves that laws can not be objectively divided into just and unjust ones. Because people, more often than not, judge laws according to their personal value systems. However, we should neither decide to obey laws (这个neither obey laws好像太绝对了,不守法?我觉得加个限定词汇更好。blindly)or not accorded with our own evaluation on justice, nor should we follow laws without thoughtful attention and due regard. 倒装不错In addition, laws needs to be adjusted to keep the pace of time, in which procedure, we are responsible to be involved in supervising, questioning, and discussing the laws.(开头论点写得挺长,大体分三部分,1分类不对2不盲从不反对3法律与时俱进 不错。看你下面如何论证吧)
First of all, people are often apt to judge if laws are just or not in accord with their personal value systems which differ from one another due to the various belief, emotion, educational level as well as interests.(various后不用plural?) For that matter, different people may hold diverse views towards the same law. Citing the children criminal for example, If a child under the legal age and a adult commit the same guilty, the judge would sentence the lighter penalty to the child than adult according to the written laws. People who consider such laws to be just are more likely apt to sympathize with the child for his immature characteristic and personality. However, the one who suffered the crime(victim) may view the related laws as injustice for they undergone the same lose thus the criminal should be punished correspondingly no matter how old he is.(例子非常好,唯一美中不足可能就是例子写的有些长。不知道这样如何 If a child under the legal age commit a crime, the judge would sentence a lighter punishment compared with adult criminal, due to sympathize with the child for his/her immature character and personality. However, the victim may view the judgement as injustice....对比的意味也出来了,意思也表达完整了。 ) From this occasion, we learn that people often hold different view(views) towards whether the law is just or unjust mostly because of their diverse personal value systems.
Nevertheless, the fact that people have the freedom to judge the laws in their minds does not mean that people can actually choose which law to obey with their criteria on judgment of justice and at the same time, disobey or even resist the so-called unjust laws. We have to admit that laws always have the very reason for their existence and endurance. As to their primary incentive, laws were formulated to regulate people's behavior and provide society with order and stability. In another word, they are(去掉are或者aimed) aim to protect the interests and rights of majority of people that the laws are enforced upon. To maximize their function, laws require compulsorily respect and obey. If we obey just laws and disobey or resist unjust laws just with the mere consideration of personal judgment, the social stability and harmony will be threatened or even undermined. Just like the army in a battle, if the soldiers only follow the order which they regard right and disobey those “wrong” orders in their imagination, the army would surely be defeated because of the chaos brought by personal judgment of single soldiers(soldier). Thus, it is our responsibility to obey the exist(existing?) laws in most cases to keep our society stable and sound.法律权威性,nice
But it is also by no means a good advice for us to blindly obey laws without thoughtful attention and due regards. After all, no law is utterly perfect. We should involve ourselves into the supervision and, to some extent, the adjustment of laws to make they keep pace with time. For instance, once upon a time, black people in US were treated unequally according to laws that were held as justice for most people all over the country. (小声说,美国宪法从建国就规定了人的平等,不过执行起来没有把黑人做他们的国民。有些有法不依的意思)But with the evolution of democracy(好像有个术语civil right movement用这个是不是更好), people gradually recognized that every one was born equal and the former laws were unjust. Thus they were engaged into the various campaigns to call the equal rights for black people. Finally, the government modified the corresponding laws to give black citizens equal positions. We should express our real contentions and opinions of the laws that proved to be unjust due to the changed conditions of time, and try to make any sense through legal procedure.
In conclusion, it is true that people often judge if laws are just or not with their own value systems, but we can not afford to disregard the dignity of law and decide which law to follow freely according to our sense of justice. Besides, laws should be modified to address the needs of time which involves every one to pay attention to.结尾没话说。重新强调观点。 |
