It is true that advertisement is sometimes essential to the sales of certain products. After all, making customers know the existence of such product is the first step in business campaigns. However, an entire rely on propagation may mask other factors that may be even more crucial to profits.

To begin with, the manager failed to recognizes that the advertise campaign direct by their company, the one produces tools and home appliances, should not be the same as soft drinks and fast-food restaurants. It is not surprising as the survey indicates that most high school students can recognize the tunes used to advertise soft drinks and fast-food restaurants. After all, these kinds of things conform to the trend of the youth. As a presentation of popular culture, they are more susceptible to popular songs which are supposed to be used in an efficient commercial strategy. However, the sales manager's company produces tools and home appliances, which are directed to housewives, workers to whom song-advertisement probably not work well.

What is more, the survey of high school students may beg the question. After all, it is mostly the housewife or workers who are the costumers of this company, not the high school students. Even if I assume that a distinctive song will eventually won popularity in high school students, it will not make any sense to this company. A more efficient survey is supposed to investigate in housewives and workers and other individuals who may buy their products and find out weather or not it is the way of advertisement that affect the sales of their company. Probably, the result will return out to be a preference to magazine advertisement rather than that in TV or radio with a distinctive song.

Even if I concede that a distinctive song is more efficient than advertising in magazines, it is possible that the sales will not be any better. There are many factors responsible for the declination of this company suffered last year. Perhaps the price they set is too high, or perhaps there is a decreasing demand in tools and home appliance in market. In addition, an unreliable quality may also conducive to the declination. It may be the case that a quickly-break-down tool brings a bad fame to the company no matter how hard they strive to contrive their advertisement strategy.

To sum up, profit is a complex question that calls for a balance on revenue and cost. Before the company makes any decision concerning what advertising strategy to use, a carefully analysis of the current condition of their company is required. Unless they are confident that the change in advertisement strategy will bring them revenue, that is high enough to counteract the advertisement cost when using a song in TV or radio, boosting company profits with this measure may be too hasty.
