TOPIC: ISSUE11 - "All nations should help support the development of a global university designed to engage students in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems."

The speaker asserts that in order to engage students in dealing with the world' s most persistent social problems, all nations should support to develop a global niversity. The speaker's claim appeal to seemingly reasonable, however, in my views, though a global university may help the whole society work on some complicated matters, building such a school is so difficult and unrealistic.

Admittedly, when such a global university is set up, it will do some help for the progress of solving the world's persistent social problems in a way. The university  will certainly catch the whole society's attention. There, may have lots of well-known professors from different coutries and different fields, and may have much supports in policy from different countries and financial supports from many international financial groups. The most important, cooperation is the ageless themes in this special school. With so many advantanges and merits, students there will learn knowledges across-the-aboard and begin to analogy problems from different sides. Thus, it will research the most effective way to work on most persistent social problems nowadays.

However, from the pratical viewpoint, this is rather a slow and hard progress to establish such a school with numberous interference factors. For instance, working together too consanguineous or over reliance on each other will cause some serious side-effects. For instance, the financial crash of Octorber 1987 and the Asia Economic Crisis in 1998 demonstrate that the world's captical markets are more closely intergrated than ever before and that events in one part of the global village may be transmitted to the rest of the village almost inatantaneously. Such difficulty cannot be ignored while determining whether such global university will be build.

Furthermore, there is something seriously prevent us from the happiness of support to the development of a global university, such as huge diversities among all nations, special national conditions, the interpositions from several governments and so on. The individuals have to adapt themselves to sacial life with other people and conform their behavior to accord with social moral principles and customs. But, in this university, which kind of culture should students follow? If not mentioned, how can an Indian talk with an Englishman when hesitating stand closely or keep a certain distance? In addition, pratical solutions are determined by different national conditions, which, in the same time, enhance the level of difficulty of solutions. And that, when facing some problems which related on interest of some government, they may use lots of instruments try to interfere the progress of researching. Above all, even if such a global unicersity is constructed, the way it move will be too spiny.

In sum, as I see it, though a global university may focus many great strength all over the world, it is still unrealistic to let it solve all persistent social problems alone. Moreover, it is not the only way to settle such problems. As long as we all become solidarity, nothing can prevent us from running to the bright future.
