Widely dissemination of mass global media makes any news and information spread with a rapid speed. Scandals of public figures in any given area are reported frequently on television, newspaper, magazine and other media approaches. Seen from contemporary society, on the one hand, large-scale scandals attract our focus on a problem that has never bee considered before and thereby play a critical role to some extent; on the other hand, over attention on scandals may not only do detrimental to the focused person but also distract ourselves from even more important objective factuality.

It is indeed that scandals reveal some facts that cannot be recognized in other ways in that the speakers and reformers have to take responsibility for their public visualization and maintain their good impression and esteem from public. Only through media piling into these private issues of these celebrities, in the form of scandals, that the obscure events can be displayed. The paradigmatic modern example is the Watergate scandal. The advent of the event calls for our attention on the justice of public election and the need to limit the unduly power of president. In such case, scandals concentrate public attention and impose heavy pressure to bring new reforms to president election, thereby keep people’s trust and loyalty to the authority government in the long run.

Simply assuming, if there no longer exists scandals, we may only see the good aspect of anything and cannot have a holistic view of anything. On the condition that the government merely delivers the absolute advantageous and justice to the citizens, all the citizens may only respect and esteem the authority without any doubt. Obviously, such phenomenon is deleterious to society’s development.

Scandals call our attention on a problem or a person quite effectively but otherwise make us overemphasize the fault instead of treating their contribution fairly, even distract ourselves from other important issues. While the sex scandal of Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky did call our attention to certain issues of federal law, but we cannot neglect the president’s contribution to the whole country. It sparked a debate about the powers and duties of legal prosecutors, under the Independent Counsel Act. And the various court rulings about executive privilege serve useful legal precedents for the future. Even the impeachment proceedings will no doubt provide useful procedural precedent in the future. Yet, in spite of this, we can not only focus on such single affair. The twelve years’ reign of Bill Clinton promoted America’s economy, military and policy progression to a large extent. His contribution can never be obliterated. More importantly, for more that a year the scandal served chiefly to distract us from our most pressing national and global problems, such as the Kosovo crisis, social-security crisis, and health-care reform and so forth.

Another viewpoint of scandals is that we should avoid believing blindly about scandals and should distinguish before making any judgments. Media, in order to attract attention, used to aggrandize facts, even a small event can be magnified into a resounding event. A disadvantage report will greatly jeopardizes the benefit of the focused-person. For us, we should be vigilant to be deceived and avoid imposing unnecessary detrimental to celebrities.

In sum, I concede that scandals often focus our attention on important socio-political problems more effectively than any speaker or reformer can. However, as in a justify and harmonious society, each individual should treat scandals veraciously.

全文层次清晰用词准确(挺多不认识的),长短句搭配很不错,各段之间的连接很好。从中学到不少。
