The speaker asserts that education will be effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. While this assertion has merit. I think it overlooks the potential benefits of the basic and common education.

First of all, I tend to agree with the speaker that a specifically designed education may enhance students' empathy to study. For instance, Edison's specified education by his mother did a strong influence to the success of him. Common education seems less effective when it comes to the realm of art, literature, and so on. It’s unnecessary to ask artists and writers are good at math or physics. Since we humans have limited time and energy, we instinctively concern in the subject which meet our specified needs and we willing to study it well.

On the other hand, the speaker unnecessarily extends the result of the special designed education. Besides some certain aspects such as art and literature, common education is important to student. For many courses are not mutually exclusive, one can not only choose to learn the interested one. For example, students have to have certain physics knowledge before taking astronomy course, no matter how they dislike physics. Additionally, take course by interests may lead children lack with fundamental skills and knowledge, lack in imagination due to narrow knowledge. As a whole, the method which the speaker said is not a generally sound way.

Otherwise, the speaker illogically defines the very notion of education. After all, education is the process of discover the interests of students. One can not know whether a subject could interests he or she before study it. Furthermore, students have too limited knowledge to choose what they really suit for. In fact, query whether education can well designed to meet the individual needs, or whether it can really interests each student. Moreover, on the social level, it’s not a effective way. Few people would dispute that education meets each student’s interests will ask a large amount of money. A higher education budges also means fewer students could have the chance to study. Because the world we are living in have finite economic resources.

In sum, the speaker’s assertion that plan a special education which meets the individual needs and interests of each student has the merit only in a few realm such as art and has create a effective result only when it comes to some single courses. Nevertheless, it’s not a reason way for a student’s whole study process and the special education plan may don’t work out at the very beginning for students do not certainly sure which subject they really like. Furthermore, this kind of education is absolutely ineffective on the social level because of the large extra budget.
