I strongly disagree with the author on the recommendation that the gifted children should be identified and given special education at an early age leading to be predominant in certain realm ultimately though I admit the importance of developing children's talent. The following perspectives will support my position.
To the begin, there is no denying the fact that cultivating one's innate gift at an early age is significant and effective. Children are so naive and curious that they can be easily attracted by lots of novelties especially what relating to their innate talent. Thus providing appropriated methods to train these children in certain fields where they are adept will redound to realize their full potential and ultimately make considerable contributions to society. Supposing that children who have potential as painters keep away from paint-pencil let alone teachers teaching painting, their gift will be wasted.
However, recognising the extraordinary from the normal is easy said than done. Gifted children are curious, dedicated, smart, retentive and so forth. How to determine a genius by rule and line according to those characteristics is a considerable problem. Furthermore, even though it is successful to set up a series of scientific theories and criterions to recognise gifted children, the following step of esvaluating which realm what they are good at best is a second troublesome issue as children are interested in varieties of things.
Finally, cultivating gifted children seperated from the others has a detrimental impact on themselves development. When they are apart from the others, on the one hand, the talent children will be complacent while on the other hand the the common children have feeling of inferiorty. Furthermore, huge pressure and expectation from parents and society will make negative impact on the further development of these gifted children. Also, spending too much time on themselves special education renders the gifted children to lose chances of communicating with others.
In conclusion, appropriate leading and comprehension should be provided by families and society to the gifted children so that it will be more probable to make significant contributions to society fully ultilizing their talent in certain field.
