The statement claims that artist instead of critic, gives society something of persistent value. No one can deny the fact that it the artist, who creates some valuable. However, I have to say this statement is one-sided without noticing the important effect of critic in prolonging the value of art.

Many artists created a large amount of great works in the form of novels, films, music, etc.  Considering the works, such as ( ...帮忙想一个吧  ) , their value are embodied not only in representing the reality of the society in that time, but also in shaping readers' character and illumining people's mind. Just like beautiful flowers booming during the history earth. (比喻可以这么写吗？ )However, what we should talk about is the lasting value. Imagine when a book called { }, now we know it is a famous book, published, no one take any attention to it, read it, understand it, spread it, there is no more than a pile of paper, let alone its value. So critics is a group of persons who discover the works of art, appreciate them, spread them in order to keep their value persistent, the value influence generation by generation.

There are millions of novels, films, music in handy. Take novel books for example, which are our better choices? Perhaps a new novel sells better is uninspired effort. Or perhaps an old book with nameless writer illumines your mind. Let the critics tell you. Because they specialize in analyzing novels and have more time and energy to read great number of books, so the criticism written by critics will filter the trash and commend the worthy one, which will save your precious time to enjoy the classical.
In another part, some novels with a complex background and special forms of expression are different for readers to understand even after reading several times. By reading the comment of critics, readers can easily draw the point and understand deeply and the value is lasting in reader's heart. Gradually such kind of wonderful books are spreading widely, even to foreign countries and from generation to generation.

In addition, a fact must be taken into account that the criticism of only a few critics or in a short time couldn't reflect the value of the work of art. Due to the limit by the knowledge and understanding, some critics may misunderstand the classical. However, that won't obscure their value. Golde is always shining. (Just like (再帮我想个书名吧 ) 1000years has passed, it is still being reading by a growing number of people. )

In sum, both artist and critic contribute to give society something of lasting value. Without artists, we have no value to cherish; without critics, value maybe obscured, let alone lasting.
