In this topic, the author claims that the high-speed electronic communication media prevent meaningful and thoughtful communication. Although I concede the author's assertion insofar as some negative effect brought by electronic communication in certain field, I disagree it prevent meaningful and thoughtful communication. As the matter of fact, the positive and negative effect of electronic communication has been recognized by people now.

People who lived in the society need communication. In ancient, the communication is limited for the limitation of the communications media. In modern time, the development of science and technology bring us not only the efficiency but also convenience. Imagining that two friends away from thousands miles wonder to keep in touch usually: in ancient, maybe they will never achieve their dream unless one of them climbed mountain and crossed waters to visit the other one; even in previous time, the ways of communication are letter and telegraph. Yet, the former need too long time and the latter limit too few words. In modern time, all have been changed with the development of electronic communication. Computer and Network link a new expressway among people all over the world. Wherever you are and whatever you do, as long as you plug you portable computer to Internet jack, open your mail box, click the button “RECEIVE”, and then you will receive the mail from the entire world. And the camera makes people “face-to-face” talk possible no matter how far away. All above are the quick and convenient communication brought by electronic communication.

However, as is so often pointed out, the electronic communication media is a two-edge weapon which can be used equally for good or evil. It is now being used indifferently for both. Could any spectacle, for instance, be more grimly whimsical than that of the neighbors chatting warmly on Internet while, close at hand, they saying no "Hello" while meeting in the real world. We have to ask ourselves very seriously what will happen if this twofold use of electronic knowledge continues. No doubt, the feeling, society custom, society relationship will be destroyed, not to mention people's emotion contact face to face. Taken in this sense, the deeply and thoughtful communication is prevented by the electronic communication media.

Furthermore, It is not absolute that the electronic communication media will prevent meaningful and thoughtful communication insofar as science research, even if it indeed prevent people’s mood communication. The process of knowledge looms so large in the modern world, and in large extent, it relies on the quick communication among the scientists. The Human Genome Project (HGP), collaborated by six countries, has completed in 2006. During the time of research, the scientists, locating in different countries in the earth, exchange the experience and processes with High-speed electronic communication media, which dose not prevent their meaningful and thoughtful communication but help them. In this sense, the electronic communication media promote meaningful and thoughtful communication.

In sum, the author asserts the conclusion too absolutely without considering fully. Although the electronic communication media indeed prevent people’s emotion contact. it cannot say that it prevents the meaningful and thoughtful communication, for the prevention is limited in several  aspects.
