136"The absence of choice is a circumstance that is very, very rare."
Is the absence of choice very rare? In response to this issue, we need to analyze the proposition comprehensively from the dialectic perspective, investigating the nature of truth by critical analysis of concepts and hypotheses. The author declares that the absence of choice is a circumstance that is very ,very rare. The final judgment, in my point of view, should depend on a case-by-case study.
First and foremost, we human being , as the supreme species , have free will and pursue freedom always, therefore the true absence of choice is very rare. The only possible exception is that solitary imprisonment or a severe mental deficiency. As a matter of fact, as the part of nature, when we feel that the choice is rare ,that means we fall into the dilemma; however, the instincts push us to survive, even though there really is lacking of choice. What is more, the law of nature eliminates the false and remains the true. In the other word, we stand here equals with that we are the elites among the long history. Let's bring our discussion into a practical and present context; it can be given a concrete even extreme example: Helen Keller, the Miracle Writer, who could not hear and could not see, proved that she could communicate in the world of sight and sound--and was able to speak to it and live in it. It is obviously that Keller fell into the dilemma facing with the absence of rare choice; nevertheless, Keller struggled from the dilemma, found herself successfully. What is more, Keller inducted many the disable to live on. To turn back, Keller could break the absence of choice. What about us, the healthy and common people? It is our responsibility and duty to break up it!
Secondly, with the development of society and the advancing of industrialization, the tendency, rare choice, becomes increasing scanty. With a thorough retrospection of human being’s history, the absence of choice really existed. For example, in prehistorical age, our forerunners only hunt for food to support the total family--if not, they will die out from the earth. In contrast, nowadays, the choices are abundant--we can watch TV, play football, kiss your GF--of course after class or work which is just like the hunting. What makes our world rich and colorful? And what enrich our choices? The answer is that our forerunner struggles in the silt, pointing out that this direction is the absence of choice and the other is correct. That means they thrive for the latter generation. Without the invention of filament, we would still struggle in the dark night; without the foundation of cowpox, we would still under the trepidation influenced by smallpox; without the invention of plane, we would have to cross the Pacific by boat. In short, even if you face with the absence of choice, when you success, our children will absorb the experience about failure, avoiding the same dilemma. That is the way our human go forward generation by generation. We can predict that with the going of time, the circumstance that absence of choice is more and rarer under our ceaseless efforts.
From the analyses made above, I strongly commit to the notion that we need call for a thorough consideration about the absence of choice. Firstly, we should hold on the courage to break up the rare choice; secondly, with the time flying, this circumstance becomes increasing scanty, if we try our best for the next generation. In a word, the absence of choice is rare. Now we can define a better society, as the war between facing rare choices and making more choices, which needs our efforts, never give up. The more we stand the little our children suffer.
