Some people believe that the Earth is being harmed(damaged) by human activity. Others feel that human activity make the Earth a better place to live. What is your opinion? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
严重超时~
As the gradual evolution of society, human life has been changed dramatically. These changes took place in every aspects of human life. Car and roads make transportation fast and easy, factories manufacture a variety of products satisfying human needs, public facilities in urban such as water supply, electricity, gas supply and waste disposal render human life more convenient. However, for all of these merits, humans sacrificed significantly a valuable environmental cost. From my point of view, human activity does destroy tremendously the Earth.
One of the primary effects of human activity on the environment is water pollution. The main sources of water pollution are factory waste and untreated human residue. When they are dumped into rivers and streams, the water downstream is contaminated and becomes undrinkable and unusable for agriculture, and kills plants and animals in the river water and stream. For example, in the winter of 2005, the water in downstream of Song Hua river in the northeast of China was significantly contaminated in that there was a chemistry factory leaked a massive amount of chemical pollutant. The production and human life in downstream had been severely influenced by that accident.
Another serious and long run impact of human activity on the environment is air pollution. Air is being polluted by modern transportation, strikingly automobiles powered by petroleum, as well as electricity generators that burn fossil fuel like coal and emit chemical waste into the air. This makes the air unhealthy to breathe. Moreover, the pollutant in the air, as the form of acid rain, fall back to the Earth, which violates plant and human building. In addition, the environmental experts pointed out that the increasing air pollution not only causes serious problems such as acid rain, but also contributes to global warming, even could threaten to end human and other creatures on our planet. By research and observation on global climate for the past several decades, scientists have noted the average temperature of the earth arose, which triggered by the increase of greenhouse gases, and air pollutants engendered by human activities such like burning fossil fuels in the atmosphere. They also predict and believe that if humans continue to increase the number of gases and air pollutants in the atmosphere, the temperature of the Earth will ascend continually. Consequently, the marvellous disaster would happen to human and our planet. The greenhouse effect and the rise of the temperature would lead to melt the glaciers and the polar ice caps, as well as the extinction of a huge number of species since they cannot adapt to the rise of temperature. Then, the sea level would inevitably go up. This could cause devastating coastal flooding in the world. Eventually, A fair proportion of cities would be submerged by the flooding. At that time, the astonishing scene in the movie of "THE DAY AFTER TOMOTTOW" would come true. That would be a catastrophe to humans and the Earth.
Therefore, I believe that it is human activity resulted in many serious problems and damaged the Earth. It is high time that we realized the danger of humans and the Earth, and prevented our planet from disaster.
