------题目------
The following is a letter to the editor of a news magazine.
'Clearly, the successful use of robots on missions to explore outer space in the past 20 years demonstrates that robots could be increasingly used to perform factory work more effectively, efficiently, and profitably than human factory workers. The use of robots in factories would offer several advantages. First, robots never get sick, so absenteeism would be reduced. Second, robots do not make mistakes, so factories would increase their output. Finally, the use of robots would also improve the morale of factory workers, since factory work can be so boring that many workers would be glad to shift to more interesting kinds of tasks.'
------正文------

In this argument, the arguer claims that robots could be increasingly used to perform factory work more effectively due to their good performance in exploring outer space. Although it seems to be plausible at the first glance, careful scrutiny reveals there are many flaws as follows.

To begin with, although they do not get sick, robots will also make mistakes, and the increase in output cannot surely be warranted. Common sense tells us, although robots do not get sick as workers, but after all, their programs were written and managed by human beings, and it is inevitably that they make mistakes. Once the programs have some mistakes, it is even more serious, for it may lead to a series of mistakes, which cannot be repaired soon. And this will surely decrease the output. In contrast, when workers get sick, they can go back home to have some rest, and may not influence the ordinary operation of the factory much, but the mistakes of robots will cost the factory significantly both in money and time. In such cases, perhaps the workers can save the factory more time and money.

Moreover, the arguer supplies no evidence about the discontent about workers and their will to see the robots to replace their jobs. Without surveys about the attitude about the workers towards the robots, perhaps they have a strong antipathy and fear towards them, as the total amount of work is limited, and the use of robots may indicate more unemployment. What is more, no evidence indicates that workers dislike their current job, and have great will to shift to others. Even they do have such desire, because of people's nature of pursuing new things, it is likely that they will soon be sick of new jobs after the factories satisfy them.

Finally, the arguer fails to consider the feasibility and disadvantages about the robots, and the more profits are also untenable. First, although the use of robots on missions to explore outer space has got great success, whether there are robots designed to do work in factories is unknown. Generally speaking, the work in the out space and factory is very different, and perhaps the latter is heavier and need not so much technologies, and the transform between the two still need research. If they are still under research, all of the advantages about such robots are meaningless. Second, robots cannot neatly response the emergence as human beings, and they cannot find the existing problems rooted in their programs in time. When a new mistake happens, the factory might be in disorder as the robots cannot exclude it. Third, even if the robots have already existed, how much are they? How do they cost in every day operation and repair? What about the salary of the operators? Perhaps as the most advanced inventions, the total of the above is much higher than the worker's salaries. Any of the scenarios, if true, will lead the application of robots infeasible and profitless.

To sum up, detailed researches and logical reasoning are needed before final judgment is made. The arguer fails to consider the advantages and disadvantages of the robots fairly, and compare carefully with the traditional style, so lead the argument totally unconvincing.

Mencius said,"When heaven is about to confer a great office on any man,it first exercises his mind with suffering, and his sinews and bones with toil.It exposes his body to hunger………….By all these methods, it stimulates his mind, consolidates his character, and increases his efficiency".
