Issue 4
No field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study.
提纲:
观点:虽然学科间的交流很重要,但学科的原动力在于本学科科学家的创造和努力
学科间的交流:理科,文科
学科发展的原动力来自本学科科学家的努力,不能只依靠其他学科的知识和经验。
In an era of rapid development of economy and scientific technology, cooperation is being an increasingly important way of human beings to make progress, academic studying is no exception. Different fields of study can share the resources and knowledge with each other, different areas of scientific researches may work complementarily and reciprocally. However, the original motivation of one subject’s development is the creation and efforts made by its own scientists and experts rather than the experience and knowledge brought by the outsiders.
In modern times, when we are considering the effective way of academic study, cooperation between different fields of study may furnish a cogent answer.
As is known to all, mathematics is the basis of other kinds of science like physics, chemistry, and even economics. For, mathematics provides scientific methods of calculating and observation in three dimensions, which help to build a mechanical way to explore the outside world. By using such method, physics and chemistry can progress reveal the natural world more thoroughly and scientifically.
We have all heard of the double-helix structure of DNA, which is discovered by Crick and Watson. Although this is a great discovery in genetics, the discipline underlying it is based on the geometric principles.
Secondly, when it comes to arts like literature and philosophy, cooperation and integration of different fields are also popular. We can find philosophy principles in almost every work whether a novel, a prose, or a play. Thereby, sometimes, the most famous writers may also be respected as the greatest philosophers.
Nonetheless, we can not ignore the fact that, although cooperation between different fields of study is significant to their development, it is after all not the key factor. Otherwise, the knowledge brought by the outsiders can not replace its own progress and knowledge. It is unimaginable for mathematics to make great progress only by some outsiders’ contributions, no matter how ingenious they are. Likewise, it is unimaginable for physics to make great progress with nothing but some important mathematical methods. The knowledge and experience of one field of study can only serve as the reference to another field of study. The example of the history of mathematics may best illustrate this reasoning. Even before the existence of most of the other subjects, Greek mathematicians and geometrists had already developed some basic principles and disciplines which obeyed and applied even today. The most important factor of one study field’s development is the efforts made by its own experts and scientists rather than those from other field of study.
In conclusion, although we can not ignore the importance of the cooperation and integration between different subjects, the original motivation of one field of study is its own scientist’s efforts. Meanwhile, by referring to the experience and knowledge of other fields, they can work more efficiently and successfully. |
